| College, High School and soon Scows up North
College sailing began in earnest in March. Teams from the Midwest began traveling south and east to find soft water but, turns out, they could have stayed here. Exciting times for George Kutschenreuter who won the B division at the huge Truxton regatta. Brother Joe was fourth in A's, Colin Smith of Brown was 2nd in Laser radials. Go to collegesailing.org for weekly results. See our Midwest sailors in action.
High School sailing began two weeks ago in Chicago. These young sailors and their parents/coaches travel each weekend between the northern Twin Cities and the southern Chicago/Milwaukee region. Minnetonka posted the first win at Belmont Station. Ben Garber, Madde Loosbrock, Connor Corgard, Addy Ferguson, Nick Price and Brooke Hensley won the first event. Sailors travel to Grosse Pointe, Michigan for the Mallory qualifier next week. Check out the MISSA site for more info.
MC's began in Florida last month. Jimmy Gluek won the 79!!! boat Midwinter Event. You will need to travel to GA, SC or OK in April but watch out when May comes - an event every weekend. Click here for the full schedule.
C scows - April 21-22 in Missouri, you can begin the 2012 season. Follow that with Springfield and then the May fun begins. 50 years of Cedar, IN - so many of you are pre-registered. Make this a year to remember in Indy and then go to Cedar, WI who is actively working to bring you the best time ever. LaBelle is on the docket May 19-20.
E scows traveled to Charleston this weekend. Lake Geneva E starts the north season.
A scows look to June to start the season with their national championship.
Optis host their Team Trials in two weeks in NJ. Watch our young Midwest sailors sail their way to the national and international teams.

| Lake Harriet Adaptive Sailing Wins US Sailing Award |
|
|
From US Sailing Website
Outstanding Program for Disabled Sailors - Lake Harriet Yacht Club Adaptive Sailing Program (Minneapolis, Minn.) Since 2007, the Lake Harriet Yacht Club's Adaptive Sailing Program has empowered sailors with disabilities to experience the sport. On a weekly basis, volunteers at LHYC help sailors rig the vessels, embark and disembark. They also assist with on-the-water coaching and safety measures. The club has been successful in making modifications to adaptive sailing vessels, which has improved the overall experience for the sailors.
Pat Dunsworth sent us this photo of the crew at Harriet readying the boats for the 2012 season.Volunteers from the Lake Harriet Yacht Club (Minneapolis, MN) Adaptive Sailing program, recent recipients of the US-Sailing "Outstanding Program for Disabled Sailors" award, perform annual maintenance on their fleet of Illusion Mini-12 and 2.4-meter sloops. Instruction and racing is available Monday & Thursday nights from early June through early September. For more information contact Pat Dunsworth at 612-309-4371.

| Delavan Prepares for Busy Regatta Season |
|
|
While preparing for a busy season this year, Delavan ran across this piece of memorabilia. So here goes the schedule ---- MIR C second weekend of June. Leave your boat there for the following weekend when sailors will compete for the C national championship. Then come back in July for the ILYA X championship. The quilt project is proceeding. Send your quilt square now. You won't want to be left out.
The X event will be a Sailors for the Sea Clean event. Look for Delavan to utilize biodegradable cleaning products, corn-based cups, water stations for refilling water bottles.
Plan to visit Delavan in June and July and then return in September for the North Americans. They are planning now just for you.
