Jim Smith retirement
Join us Friday night in Madison to say goodbye to 37-year employee Executive Secretary Jim Smith. He has survived near 20 commodores, 300 regattas, immeasureable miles and hundreds of sailors.  Rules, marks, flags, motorboats, trophies, phone calls, emails,Scowslants - all under his purview. Rumor is most likely exaggerated but the tale has it he was handed a small index file box with all our members when he began the task. It's a bit more complicated now. So complicated that we now face the task of deciphering who could possibly have his skill set as we look for his replacement. One word --- IRREPLACEABLE!
Join us at Monona Terrace in Madison. You Iowa and Minnesota folks can make it if you work halfday. Milwaukee sailors, beat the traffic rush but it's easy to get there.
Formal invitations will be in the mail in the next two weeks. If you don't receive one, YOU ARE INVITED! We used this year's membership list and eliminated the younger sailors. So watch for more details. Invite your older, retired sailors who may no longer belong. Forward this e-newsletter, make a phone call to those who love Jim, reserve a table from your club, plan to stay at the Monona Terrace Hilton - we reserved plenty of rooms. Come honor Jim - undoubtedly, our best asset.
The ILYA Board Meeting will follow on Saturday at the Hilton-Monona Terrace.

193 Complete Survey
Thank you for your input. The Buddy Melges Sailing Center was, to a person, outstanding! The results indicate 2:1 you want to stay together for the next year. Loud and clear, the post event review committee realizes the need for improvements in site management (launching and retrieval) and the distribution of the dinners and drink. With 700 onsite on Fri and 600 onsite on Saturday, it was marvelous. We have already begun planning the improvements - with energy. Your positive comments have rejuvenated the committee.

Dates for next year's events will be August 17-21.  Most of you stayed at the Abbey. The committee will be negotiating a rate soon. Tim Browne, our marketing guru, is soliciting support already. If you are interested or your company is looking for 2016 opportunities, contact Mike Keefe or Tim Browne ASAP.

Women's and Girls Clinic Planning Meeting
October 10 at 10:00
Lake Beulah has been so pleased to host the Women's and Girls' Clinic for two years but it is time to share the wealth. Our homelake girls and women have benefitted from the nation's top sailors to gain confidence and skills. Cedar, Pine, White Bear and Pewaukee have expressed interest as their women have been participants or coaches for the past two years. Beulah will share all the financials, organizational info with those interested. The goal is to set a schedule for the next several years for the event. The meeting will be held on Pine Lake at the Barkow home which is geographically central to the SE WI lakes. White Bear is interested in hosting a northern edition thanks to the support of the Sean Wagner family. The Barkow home is 5124 Maple Lane, Nashotah - off Hwy C.
