ILYA Championships - Geneva Prepares for Event of the Summer - Bring Your Family

 August 19-23

The ILYA Board focuses on a return to family fun in 2015. You all remember when everyone went to the Inland, and this year the momentum has already begun to develop. Minnetonka sailors are planning to bring family. The social committee is planning a Carnival Family Night and daytime activities for your children 10 and under. The organizing committees are excited to create an experience you and your family will thoroughly enjoy. Watch for future announcements and refinements.

The old standbys are still on the docket - Bilge Pullers will be a spectacular event as always, and the regatta social/dinner events will be outstanding values. Plan to celebrate our legends with our Bring Your Parent/Grandparent (yes, that's for adults!) for a special day on the water and recognition at the evening's Awards Presentation.

The ILYA and Lake Geneva Yacht Club are offering outstanding sponsorship opportunities for national and local sponsors. Our sponsors will be treated royally, and their contributions will return VALUE back to the sailors. The marketing deck is near completion; three-year sponsorship, naming opportunities, and general support levels are available later this week by contacting Tim Browne. If your company seems likely to want the exposure of this premiere event, contact us for a single or three-year commitment.

The ILYA Board meets November 2 when the sailing schedule will be finalized.

Rolex Sailor of the Year
Nominate your Favorite Champion

US Sailing is now accepting nominations for its 2014 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year awards, widely acknowledged as the foremost individual sailing honors in the nation. Through November 30, 2014, each member of US Sailing may nominate the one male and one female sailor they believe has turned in the most outstanding on-the-water performance during the 2014 calendar year.

Established in 1961 by US Sailing and sponsored by Rolex Watch, U.S.A. since 1980, US Sailing's Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year awards are considered the sport's ultimate recognition of an individual's outstanding on-the-water achievements for the calendar year.  The process of determining the recipients starts each September when US Sailing invites its membership to make online nominations. A shortlist of nominees is then reviewed by a panel of noted sailing journalists who discuss the merits of each nominee and vote to determine the winners.

Groskopf and Keck Take A and B Titles at Halloween Spooktacular

Just review the results of this weekend's high school sailing. Name after name you will know.
JV Lake Forest Event --results Look who's here; all our young sailors and a few names who visit us often - Lawson Levine from Lake Forest joined us often as an Opti sailor.
Varsity Lake Forest Event - results.  Be sure to check the A and B division scores. Our Inland sailors took the top four spots in A division and top two (Keck v Keck) in the B division. Alex Keck won over Carolyn Keck - great day for the original LaBelle sailing mafia. Will Curtiss and Colin Richards from the Chicago area also sailed with us as Opti sailors.
