Annie Haeger Wins College Nationals - THREE TIMES
  Nov. 6, 2011

from BC website

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College senior Annie Haeger won her third ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship this afternoon in Chicago, IL. She becomes one of the most decorated sailors in BC history.

Haeger, a native of Illinois, won the event as a freshman and sophomore and finished second by just one point in her junior season.

The Eagles sailor placed first in nine of 18 races. She finished out of the top 10 in just one race all weekend. Haeger won the event with 34 points, while the closest contender for Haeger was Yale's Claire Dennis with 69 points.

The event is sailed in single-person boats, the Laser Radial. The Laser Radial is an Olympic class boat for women as well. With a win this weekend, Haeger will tied Anna Tunnicliffe as the most successful women's singlehanded sailor, claiming three national titles. Tunnicliffe, a 2005 Old Dominon University is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in the Laseer Radial, having won gold in 2008 in Beijing.

Haeger will compete in the 470 over Christmas vacation in her bid for Olympic experience

 ussailinglogoPlease plan to attend
If you are a fleet rep, a yacht club spark plug, race committee member, builder/sailmaker - you NEED to attend the US Sailing One Design Symposium. New Jersey is the site of the event where there is a hotbed of E scows and M-16s. Check out the agenda - it is exciting, stimulating and will help energize your club or fleet.  Check here for the events. The ILYA will have a presence but you are needed to represent us or to learn from others. It's a NOT-TO-BE-MISSED event. Contact Jim Smith to let him know you are going. There seem to be five concurrent sessions at time. There are two of us going thus far.

 Trailer space available

Hunter Ratliff with Lake Forest Sailing is taking a large trailer down to Florida for the following events:

He has a couple of spots left and this is likely the most economical transportation deal you will find. For more information you can email him at the address above or call him at  847.615.4592.

PHOTOS later this week
Seems as though we have been customers of Constant Contact for so long, we have exhausted our storage capacity for photos and who wants to delete all our great photos? The ILYA will fix that this week so we can return to providing you with great photos. --- Look for the announcement of the 50th Icebreaker at Cedar, IN, when we resume our photo capability.
