Spring E on Geneva

Geneva's Spring E Regatta 14 -15 May:   A Premier E Scow Event

Averaging 35 to 45 E scow Teams for the last 13 years, Geneva's Spring E Regatta has earned the reputation of being The Premier Spring  E Regatta!

The best in race management and beautiful, clean Lake Geneva as the playground with no motor boat chop !!

With several practice starts and short races on Friday evening followed by a "Happy Hour" at the club, the regatta is off to a fun start. 3 cranes provide quick, safe and convenient launch and haulout for a dryland sailed regatta. 3 races with on the water box lunches Saturday make for a full day of great E scow racing. Drinks with dinner Saturday night at the club is convenient and a great way to enjoy sharing stories (past and present) of a great day of racing.

2 races, back to back are sailed Sunday with buffet lunch is great way to start the 2011 season of E scow racing.

Come join the fun !!

Sails for Haiti
Skip Johnson asks you to donate by May 25th
A famous name from the past -- Skip Johnson, from the former Johnson Boat Works in White Bear Minnesota -- encourages ILYA sailors to get rid of those old sails in the attic and help out the fishermen in Haiti. Skip's friend Bob and his wife in Bonita Springs, Florida, run a charity there, and part of the outreach is providing aid to orphanages to Haiti and the Bahamas. On their last trip to Haiti in December many fisherman told them of their need for sailcloth and line for their fishing boats--no sails, no fish, no food, Skip and Bob are hoping that some ILYA members would have used sails and line that they would donate to this cause. The blog of Bob's voyages can be found at www.schoonerstarofthesea.blogspot.com
It doesn't matter the condition of the items, these guys can make anything work! The ministry website is www.mysuperkidsclub.org if you would like to learn more about it. Thank You. The sails should arrive by May 25th. Bob can load 20 tons at a time so number of sails is not an issue. For more info, call  Captain Bob at 239-248-0647.
