USODA Team Trials

And they are off - 192 sailors at final registration. Three flights of approximately 60+ to make it manageable to make the completion of one race.

PRO Anderson Reggio from Newport explains the trapezoid course with Regatta Chair Tom Frentzel. Pewaukee traveled to last year's event to view the extravaganza to prepare. Local race committee is serving so it's a familiar ILYA face wherever you look. Anderson's smile here exemplifies his style. And wouldn't you know - the perfect course designed for ease of reading the finishing boat numbers turned into a downwind - hard to read - finish. Loads of thank yous from sailors as they crossed with an occasional" pull the sail in" so RC can read the number.

Thanks to the ILYA's Suzi Reese who took all the registration data and compiled the participants by state. Each sailor signed the map. Our intent is to pull it out again in 7 years ---- why? It will be an Olympic year and we can view our US athletes and recall this event. Goes Printing in Delavan donated the map.

Sailors gathered around the flagpole for a photo op to send to a most talented Opti past champion, Christopher Williford, who is battling leukemia. The Florida sailor is a crowd favorite and has the well wishes of the entire Opti community throughout the US.

For results, check the USODA website, and the results are linked in the running breaking news section. If on Facebook, go to Team Trials 2013 and there is a short top ten listing - preliminary results, however. For a full roster to check who is who in the top ten, you will need a roster with is on the Pewaukee website which is a simple Google of Team Trials 2013. I know you need to be a tech expert to get through all this. Results are rather meaningless this morning as we got in only one race so there are three sailors in first place, second place, etc.

More action to come but someone, please, stop the rain! Thunderstorms rolled through twice yesterday causing us to take out and put in a couple times as we tried to sail. The most impressive event of the day was from the water as the RC slowly motored in following the fleet. A constant string of boats was visually marching up the ramp without a break. Rumor has it they got a boat out every 3.7 seconds thanks to four dads from an unknown team - Thanks whoever you were. Thanks to the Pewaukee ground crew led by Mark Cooper who organized the system months ago but conveniently went to work when the storm hit. Great planning!!! But John Porter and Jon Just along with the PYC family had the ramp organized as the first boat landed. It was a most impressive and almost artistic motion of boats marching uphill to the parking lot.
