News from the ILYA
We are ready - how about you? Ten pre-registered for July MC Invite at Harriet
Registration - All our events are now "live". Watch for deadlines for early registration lower fees. Our first event is the ILYA 420 Championship on Okauchee Lake June 22-24. Deadline for early entry is June 8th. ILYA 420 registration

The BEST deal is the low early bird rate for the social package at the ILYA Championships in August on Lake Geneva. A June 15th commitment is as low as it goes. Thanks go to the ILYA Executive Committee and the Finance Team of Dave Berg, Tom Larimer and Todd Haines for the most generous reduction and subsidy for our youth sailors. Click here to order the social package. GET IT NOW!!

Other June deadlines include the C Invitational and ILYA/National Melges 17/ I-20 Championships. Why not register now before you get busy with home lake sailing?

May 13, 14-15 - C and MC
Cedar Lake will host the Spring regatta May 14-15. We will be using short track racing. Lots of starts! With 20-40 minute races. Best of all the M
elges team will be on hand Friday, May 13, to sharpen your skills. Get your boat in by 2:00 PM to have on the water coaching. Is your traveler in the right spot, trimmed too tight? A Melges pro will be there to help. On shore chalk talk will be at about 4:30. A bit later drinks and a dinner at the Paul Reilly residence on Big Cedar Lake. It's a can't miss.
Racing Saturday starts at 10:00 AM for MC and 10:30 AM for C's.  Saturday night dinner at the yacht club.Sunday racing too! See the CLYC web site for more detail.
C boaters will get to race against last year's ILYA champ and the National points champ. This will surely be a Blue Chip qualifying event.
Get Tuned-Up at LaBelle May 21-22nd - C, MC, X
Calling all C, MC, and X boats: A revamped sailing and social schedule makes the Tune Up the perfect last spring regatta before the season starts. The brand new Oconomowoc Community Center is the lakeside regatta HQ with FREE beer ALL weekend. That's right, even with the reduced entry fee from previous years and under-25 discount, the beer will be flowing. The great Larry Krause will be the PRO so be on the starting line at 10 am Saturday morning and get tuned up with 3-4 shorter races planned for the day. Immediately following racing, Dave and Julie Keck host a classic Lac LaBelle party with food and drinks all night long.
Make sure to register right away to avoid any late fees and be entered to win an early registration prize. Head over to www.labelleyachtclub.org for more details and registration.
As a Blue Chip qualifying event there is no better way to get tuned-up than sailing the challenging waters of Labelle. Housing is available upon request and for more information please reach out to Bob Johnson at bj832@att.net. We look forward to seeing everyone at LaBelle for the Tune-Up
Cedar Icebreaker
No sailing on Saturday due to high winds but the enthusiasm did not wane for the event. No sailing means more socializing. Sunday's two races were light and fluky but the same champion emerges but on a tie. Steve Schmidt with son Tim took top honors but Joe Schaub is on a roll. In two regattas, he has lost only one race. Unfortunate for Schaub, it was the second race of the day on Sunday; hence, Schmidt is the winner. It was great to see three Fenton boats travel to the event, three Okauchees, four Pewaukees and six Beulahs. Two other Beulah boats came on the no-sail Saturday but are not included in the scores. There were 23 total scored boats. Picture below is Steve Schmidt with Roger and Donna Growden, Cedar Lake race committee in the background. Thanks to the Parker family for another great year. It is quite a show with the Cedar members rolling out the red (and green and blue) carpet for the opening season. (For those of you not in attendance, drinks come in red, green and blue.)

UW Sailing Team Fundraiser
Nationals in San Diego
by Kate Klement
The Wisconsin Sailing Team will be traveling to San Diego May 24th-June 4th to compete in the ICSA National Championship. The team has successfully qualified for all three National's events, Co-Ed, Team Race, and Women's, by winning all three of their MCSA Qualifiers. As a student run and self-funded organization, the cost of traveling to San Diego falls on the shoulders of the sailors competing. In an effort to minimize the cost each sailor will have to pay, the team has launched a t-shirt campaign. These t-shirts are being sold for $15 and all proceeds will go directly to the National's team towards covering the cost of travel, housing, food, and entry fees. Please email
cc'ing  with your order shall you wish to support the team. The deadline for accepting orders will be this Sunday, May 1st. (Go ahead and try- editor) If you wish to support the team with a monetary donation you can donate at
 Thank you for your support!
