Sails for Haiti

Do you have an old sail to donate? Or a boat cover? We have a request from Brad Clinkingbeard of Lake Geneva, who is one of a group of builders heading for Haiti to help people displaced by recent earthquakes. He is collecting old sails, awnings, boat covers, and tents for use as interim shelters. Please e-mail details (size, condition, location) to Brad at bclink@charter.net. (For information about the overall project see rainmakerfundraising.org and click on Haiti.)

Beulah says, "Come C boating"
Frank Davenport Welcomes You on ILYAmedia.org
Local Beulah sailor and Road Warrior, Davenport is committed to a 40 boat C Invite. If you haven't met Frank and his wife Julie, you are in for a fun-filled event. While the Beulah C fleet is as competitive as they come, the fun factor is hard to beat. With Team Hungover (Brickler boys), two fast Haeger boats (and a third if past Blue Chip champ Matt appears), you haven't even met one of our fastest boats since Team SUMO doesn't travel - too fat - and Jay Hiller sailing Dad-E-O XXIX - yes, that's 29 of them! The fleet has listed the Top Ten Reasons to come:
  1. Free Housing - register now with FrankDavenport frank@morrison-saltz.com
  2. Free dinner ticket for 17th (Porter number) and 33rd (Davenport number) registrant on ILYA website
  3. Free mooring in front of the club for the rst ofake registrant on ILYA website Leif Evensen already won this!
  4. Free spectator boat to the registrant from the 8th lake
  5. Free beer for registration night, July 15th, for the 20th person from the bottom of the ILYA registration list as of June 1.
  6. Bottle of booze to the club with the most registrants
  7. Frank Davenport has surprises for you - a Pontoon Preview of the night after Day 1's racing
  8. Joe Sko as bartender - if you trust him
  9. Small lake racing with all its challenges-recover with the evening's activities. Casual dinner and drink on Friday; Steak Fry on Saturday
  10. IT'S BEULAH!!! THE MOST TRAVELING C FLEET IN THE INLAND!!! ROAD WARRIOR TEAM CHAMPS SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE AWARD. THERE IS NO ONE WHO LOVES C SAILING MORE!

US Sailing latest e-newsletter - full of club ideas
ussailinglogoClick here for your latest news
The last two e-newsletters have contained news for the spring season for clubs: insurance, rules updates, dues renewals, incentives for One Design classes. It's all there. In addition, it's not too early to think US Sailing-supported 2012 Olympics as our local sailors John Ruf and Anne Haeger are earmarked for special training. And don't leave Olympian Sally Barkow out. While not listed as part of the official roster, it's due to her rest in the past year but watch for her now as she returns to action.
