Dave Davenport Takes Title at A Scow Nationals at Torch

I-333 all Beulah sailors - Dave Davenport, Joe Kutschenreuter, Joe Skotarzak, Jim Kutschenreuter, Ben Porter, Peter Keck (yes, they claim his Beulah years) and Molly Forbes - sailed a 1-4 on the last day to never lose the lead after race 2. With blinding speed downwind and great calls on a shifty lake by Joe Kutsch, it was
a dream for this recently-formed team. But experience was key as Peter Keck/Ben Porter and Joe Kutsch came from the former I-28 Silverhawk under the tutelage of Andy Burdick. Joe Skotarzak has been a Pewaukee A sailor for many years. Add the All-American college titles for Kutsch and Forbes, it was only Davenport who had catch-up to perform and PERFORM he did. The boat's speed was remarkable throughout the three-day event. Judson Dayton had a great day 3 to move ahead of T Freytag who won two races, along with Davenport.

Thanks, again, to Torch Lake, Michigan who hosted us in fine, fine fashion. Parties, ambiance, water, members - near perfection.

Lake Beulah Sailing School Opti Regatta

This is the way to start a sailing career. Ellie Hirn of Suzi and Kelly Reese fame won the Green fleet at the regatta her mother won in 1992. Here she is shown with her sailing school instructors encouraging some shenanigans - RJ Porter and Will Huerth, both ILYA Champions in their own right.

White Bear Sail Strong, Sail Pink

The Sail Strong Sail Pink clinic just wrapped up at White Bear, the birthplace of the scow. Head Clinician Betsy Alison left us with these words: "I encourage each and every one of you girls and women to follow this practice: Whenever an opportunity comes up, take the opportunity because you never know which doors it will open. Keep your mind open because you don't know what's coming around the corner." - at .

No Tears 2016 - All beginning Opti sailors welcome
cedarwilogoRegistration Open
Cedar Lake Yacht Club would like to invite all eligible Opti sailors to participate in the No Tears 2016 Regatta on Monday, July 25th.

The purpose of the No Tears Regatta is to provide an opportunity for our very beginning Optimist sailors to participate in a sailing event and for their families to learn what happens prior to attending more competitive events. We are looking forward to a fun filled day with no tears.

Please pass this information along to Opti sailors and their families. A registration link should be available shortly on the  website.

Hope to see a lot of young sailors on the 25th!

So many of you graciously traveled to Geneva to assist with the Championship event. Lake Geneva has committed to three years which really helps with planning for the ILYA. It is quite a task. We estimate 450 slots were filled last year. Many folks volunteered on multiple days. Click below to find a day and time to help us run the event.
