Co-eds Begin Today
Women's and Team Racing Nationals are in the books. Wisco ended up 18th in the finals of Womens. As for team racing, we had sailors in the finals and several others in the lower bracket. Names are included in the scores.

Today Co-eds begins and UWM appears for the first time at a college nationals. How much fun for them. Tufts, Roger Williams, Minnesota, Wisco, Old Dominion - all have our sailors.

Fearlessness - Sail Strong, Sail Pink Keynote Topic

"The principle of fearlessness has guided me through a lot of my life experiences both on the water and off"  Join your fellow women and girl sailors on Thursday night, June 19th at 7:00 for the keynote speech of the first annual ILYA Women's Clinic. Mary Ann Ward, currently residing in the active sailing city of Seattle, is known to us in the Midwest as a strong promoter of the Melges 17 and Melges 20 fleets. In the SE portion of the nation, she is known for her active role in the MC fleet. Add an administrative role in the early days of the Chicago Matchracing Center, you can see the wide experience she has gained from sailing.

Click here to register for the banquet only. Price is $50 with $10 going to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (founded by Evelyn H Lauder of Estee Lauder).

Click here to register for the entire event. Registrations are interesting. Many young adult and adult women are using this as an adult learn to sail with women only. A mother-daughter team are coming to learn to sail the MC together. We have women coming to learn how to crew on Cs and MCs. Whatever you want, we are assigning instructors 1:1 to assist you.

Thanks to our sponsors for the event and new this week is Transtech IT services, a Women Business Enterprise (WBE)-Certified company, owned by Mary Kay Davenport who will one of our Honorary Chairpersons sitting with our sailors at the banquet.

Delavan June 7-8
Twenty-eight boats lined up to practice for this week's C Nationals and, look out, E-111 Matt Prange with best crew Charlie Meyer is the one to watch. He's sailing exceptional steady this year and beat out Brian Brickler and brother Kevin (which a success story of its own) to take the title.

The Brickler team was forced to separate last year due to Kevin's health issues but they are back.
The whole Brickler family, grandparents and all, turned out for the return of B-18.

USODA Great Plains Championships - Okoboji
Registration Deadline is TODAY!!

Opti Racers! from Joe Kutschenreuter

I want to let you know I am very excited to have been asked and to run a 1-day advanced Opti racing clinic the day before the USODA Great Plains regatta @ Okoboji, IA.

The clinic will be Friday 6/27 and it precedes a 2 day regatta 6/28-6/29.  The Friday clinic will be no additional cost for all regatta participants, and I will be doing on-the-water coaching during the entire regatta for $200/sailor, and plan to limit this to 10 sailors with GLSS sailors having first priority on these slots.  I will be covering my own lodging/traveling expenses, etc.

As many of you know, Okoboji is a great inland lake and this is a great opportunity for both "first time" USODA participants (small number of competitors - estimated 20-40 sailors, there will be a green fleet, and it is on an Inland lake), and "experienced".

Petersen's are from Okoboji and have provided a list of "Okoboji Links" that I wanted to share with you:

  • To register for any USODA event:
  • Okoboji Yacht Club
  • The great on-the-lake Amusement Park
  • Lots of great hotel/motel/resort options on the OYC website:

With 6+ sailors we will aim to use the GLSS Opti trailer to make it even easier for everyone to get there!

420 ILYA Champs - White Bear Lake

Welcome 420 sailors,

The White Bear Yacht Club would like to invite all 420 sailors to the 420 Inland Championships held on White Bear Lake on June 27-29. White Bear is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the inland association, and we are excited to have one of the newest classes sailing on our lake.

Registration begins on the 27th of June with practice starts and racing in the afternoon (check the N.O.R for scheduled times).  Friday evening will be an anniversary party for White Bear's 125th birthday. It will be held at the yacht club pool.  All sailors and parents are welcome! The N.O.R will have dinner pricings, food packages, and the estimated time.

We will race on Saturday and Sunday, and have a small awards ceremony to follow the regattas end. A minimal amount of charter boats are available. We hope to see you all at White Bear in June! If you have any questions refer to the N.O.R posted on the I.L.Y.A website, or email Ed Cox at

See you on the water,

Ed Cox

Wisconsin MC Championships

BE PART OF THE NEW TRADITION

WISCONSIN MC CHAMPIONSHIP

Cedar Lake Yacht Club

June 28th & 29th

Cedar promises more fun and less hassle. This regatta will have the feel of a Masters Championship with one more race on day one. Plenty of help from setting up your boat in to pouring free beer all weekend. Talk about what was fast during the day at the cocktail party. This will be another opportunity to learn from those who have been sailing these boats for years.

This is the regatta to come to if you are a little intimidated by ILYA or National events. We want to see all of you MC'ers from Wisconsin Long, Kegonza, Lauderdale Lakes, Twin Lakes, Little Muskego, Oconomowoc, North, LaBelle, and all of the other lakes that don't normally travel. If you regularly travel bring along another fleet member who doesn't go to many regattas. This will be a great learning experience.

We have awards for the top junior sailor and top women sailor.

Visit our website for the Notice of Race or to register at:  rhttp://clyc.com/content.aspx?page_id=87&club_id=179054&item_id=334863egattas.

The late entry deadline is 10 days away so register now!
