Opti Champs at Pewaukee - Simply Wonderful

Alex Keck and Lucia Loosbrock Take Titles --- FULL RESULTS

One hundred sixteen sailors, 150 volunteers, 800 meals,  15 race committee officials, 45 trophies, 2 marvelous regatta chairs, one stupendous regatta. Another year is in the record books and what a group of sailors we can boast. Alex Keck of Nagawicka via Beulah wins the event after a 4th and 3rd in prior years. In eight races, Keck threw out a ninth and finished with 28 total points - a fine, fine regatta! On the Green fleet, six races were completed. Lucia Loosbrock of Minnetonka sailed consistently all regatta with a worst race of 8th. The 53 (!) Green fleeters speak of the future of our local fleets.

Back to Pewaukee - "never have I attended an event where it ran so smoothly. From launch, car parking, boat parking, registration. It all just flowed so smoothly" --- from lake Geneva mom Dana Rolander. "Wow, free popsicles all day" - a young tyke on day two. Dunk tank, root beer, smiles all around - Pewaukee pulled out all the stops. This is the sixth of eight events this short season for this active club. The E Blue Chip and US Sailing Champion of Champions will conclude this year.

More Awards

The Kate Goes Sportsmanship Award was presented to Green fleeter Quinn Kaiser who retired from a race after fouling a boat causing it to turtle and become unable to finish the race. Dr. Tom Hodgson presented the award which was especially memorable for a Pewaukee crowd who recall the loss of a medal for Peter Barrett due to a RAF (retirement after finishing). How fortunate we are to have such role models for our sailors.

Sponsors for the Big Eight at Pewaukee

AJ Schweda served on the sponsorship committee for a most-busy Pewaukee as they host a remarkable eight events this season. Thanks to their many sponsors who made the prior six events most enjoyable for the participants. For better viewing of the sponsors, visit the PYC website.
Goodbye from Pewaukee!  Thanks!!
