No racing today but loads of fun. With hopes of a six-race regatta to get a throwout, the fleet will arrive Friday for a second attempt. The "no wake" Pewaukee is unusually quiet and no wind added to the calm. PROs Mann and Hodgson announced an early day Friday to get the fleets underway.
postponeDuring the afternoon wait, the X Committee met to thank retiring members Steve Schmidt, Kathryn Gutenkunst and Margaret Osmundson for their service. Martin Barr (Beulah), Ed Cox (White Bear) and Joanne Marozza (Delavan) will continue for one more year. Added at the meeting were Cindy Rusher (Cedar), Trisha Sazama (Okauchee) and Jim Johnson (Gull Lake). Pewaukee chair Carl Spencer will serve as the regatta retiring rep, Chris Long from Clear (2011) will serve on the regatta rep. Joann Marozza will represent Delavan, the 2012 hosts. Potential hosts for 2013 are Oshkosh and Minnetonka; 2014 bid is from Gull Lake. ILYA RC Chair announced Charlie MacNider and Mark Tesar will serve as next year's PROs
Daily report from Ben Biwer
The first day of racing turned out to be a non-event in Pewaukee today.  117 boats showed up to the yacht club for a 10 AM start only to arrive to light and variable conditions.  A few attempts by the senior class PRO Chip Mann to send the fleet out ended up being flukes and both fleets stayed on shore all day.

baThe sailors didn't let the light wind and non-sailing conditions ruin their day though. The Pewaukee Yacht Club and ILYA were on the ball with bag toss games, poker chips and cards, and the infamous annual volleyball tournament.  All guests enjoyed a wonderful lunch provided by the volunteers of the Pewaukee Yacht Club.  After racing was cancelled, competitors and parents congregated in the club for some appetizers and a light evening.

With almost half the volleyball tournament completed and no races sailed, the sailors and race committee are eager to get back to competition Friday morning.  Warning for both fleets is at 9:30 AM.

Make sure to follow the X Inland on Facebook by searching "2010 X Inland." There you can get up to the minute updates on racing, social, and other important aspects of the regatta.

We're all praying and hoping for wind on Friday.  Good luck to all competitors!

Okauchee Registration on Sunday
Opti Inland
ILYA OPTI Champs At Okauchee Lake August 1-3, 2010

Greetings OPTI Champs participants. Okauchee Lake is looking forward to the upcoming championship race. We are expecting more than 100 racers and have very high water conditions on Okauchee.  This quantity of participants and this lake level requires that we be very creative in our use of club grounds, the lake and the neighborhood. To make this a success for all, please read carefully.

REGISTRATION: AUGUST 1, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM only, per NOR. There will be no day of race registration.

Additional lunches and T-shirts will be available at registration.

At registration, a boat number will be assigned to your hull and to your dolly. This number corresponds to your storage location on the club grounds.

Mandatory boat measurement/inspection will be held at the regatta headquarters from 3:00PM-7:00 PM on Sunday August 1 only.

DO NOT BRING YOUR POWER BOAT!
Okauchee Lake is at this moment under a slow no wake restriction. We hope this restriction is lifted by the start of the regatta. Okauchee is heavily patrolled by several law enforcement agencies especially during this time period. Do yourself and our neighbors a favor and leave your personal motor boat at home. We will provide adequate spectator boats staffed by skippers familiar with the rules of the lake.

No power boat launching at regatta headquarters.  OLYC does not have adequate pier space to accommodate off-lake boats. If you do bring your boat, off-site launching is available at The Golden Mast. A mooring should be brought for temporary mooring at the yacht club. Water taxis will be provided to transport you from your mooring to the clubhouse. No overnight mooring allowed.

Sailing School Boats may be launched at the Bauers Lane launch. Trailers may be kept at the Kay residence. Further instructions will be provided on Sunday.

NO VEHICLE PARKING AT THE CLUB OR NEARBY ROADS.

All vehicle parking will be off site at the Stone Bank School. A shuttle service will be provided.

OTHER RESTRICTIONS:

Absolutely no alcohol may be carried onto the club grounds. Alcohol and other beverages are available at the clubhouse.
No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the road side of the yacht club property.
