ILYA C Invitational
Beulah's Haeger and Porter Take Early Lead
Twenty-eight boats sailed three heavy, heavy air races today on Okauchee. Beulah's Kent Haeger avoided younger son Will finishing ahead by placing Will and Will's regular crew Brad Roble on the B-12. They sailed brilliantly in heavy air to a 1 -2 - 6 to lead John Porter/Pat Welscher by one point. Paul Reilly and Steve Schmidt are tied for third. There are four more races scheduled in the event.
 C 420 North Americans
St. Margaret's Bay  -    Canada
Augie Dale from Pewaukee has shown us his ability as skipper but he is now out on the wire as a crew and sits in second overall after the first day of four races. Augie and skipper Audrey Giblin won the first race and sit with 12 points after four. Audrey sails in New Jersey and this event, Augie is sailing under the LISOT name.
Laser Canadian Nationals
Perfect Record
Malcolm Lamphere won the US Laser Radial Nationals only two weeks ago. He leads the Canadian version after the first day of racing with a 1-1-1.
Leiter Cup - US Sailing Youth Women's Singlehanded Championship
   Isabella Loosbrock
Isabella had a great day and finished in overall ninth place.
Area K qualifiers to US Sailing Event

 Sears, Bemis, Smythe Trophies

Proudly there is a correction. The Area K Sears representatives will be from Minnetonka - Isabella Loosbrock, Sean Burke (skipper), Ian Solum and Rachel Price will join Jack Bitney and Trevor Trepton at the US Sailing Finals.

Inland X Champs - Oshkosh

Xchamps  Still time to come
Registrations are down and yet we know you are coming. Please help the local club plan for the meals and parties by registering online now. The regatta registration is at the ILYA website and the Oshkosh website has meals, softgoods and party reservation sites.
Oshkosh promises wind after hot, low wind days at the Xtreme. PROs Chip Mann and Mark Tesar are so experienced on this lake. It will be a grand event.
This one is for all the marbles. If you want your child to be an Inland champ in a couple years, come now to get the feel of the event.
No Tears Optimist - Nagawicka on Monday
 Come For Fun!
It's been many years since Nagawicka hosted a big Opti event. It is a lovely club with a strong, strong youth program. Monday young tykes from our many SE WI lakes will gather to sail in one of their first events.
Instructors - remember to bring your sailors but also a radio with your boat so we can communicate on the race course to create the best experience for our sailors. Remember, clubs should send a motor boat with the sailors in either the junior or senior fleet.
Sailors - come to enjoy a great day of instructional sailing. The junior and senior fleets are based on age, not skill. While you may be the champion on your own lake, it is possible you are still No Tears material. If you are still struggling going upwind, aren't on the starting line, not confident in medium wind, not sailing sitting on the rail - these are all indications that you may be a No Tears sailor.
Parents - the PROs have been at this for over 20 years. The best support we have is a cadre of the finest coaches trailing the boats. We explain the courses, wait for our sailors to make it to the course, coach and coach and, most importantly, meet new friends who will remain our friends throughout our sailing life.
Join us on Monday on Nagawicka.
