Club 420 Nationals

Wow, how far we have come! Second at Nationals for a Midwest sailor. Hard to look at these results and not realize the impact of the Youth Development Committee for the past two decades. Finally our sailors are realizing the impact of decisions made many years ago and the finalization of the 420 as a sanctioned class. If you have not made the leap, come join the fun.

Look at the picture above - Mary Claire Kiernan sports an Inland pinnie - how proud she is of her heritage. Mary Claire is a Beulah Barr - it's all in the family. She is the recipient of an ILYA Foundation grant and also won the Dave Perry Clever Pig website design contest.

USODA Nationals
Henry Chapman is holding onto a top ten finish with one day to go. He is currently 8th in the gold fleet. Chapman Petersen made the Gold fleet cut and is in 78th. He is a wee type sailing well. In the silver fleet, we have two in the top fifteen. Nathan Olmstead from Minnetonka and Aiden Boylan from Calhoun lead the way. Full results from yesterday.

Many of the names are familiar to us in the Midwest after hosting the USODA Team Trials. One of our favorites who sailed in what appeared to be above his ability in May, has proven that in a single year growth occurs. Justin Callahan, a young White fleeter sits in 9th. His dad Paul is known throughout the nation as a quadriplegic who spearheads a disabled program in Newport in the summer. Congrats to that family.

Women's International Matchracing Series - New York
Roble will sail for third today in the petit finals. She lost to Lucy MacGregor yesterday but suffered from an injury to her tactician which prompted concern and shook the crew up as a substitute was placed on the boat. Good luck today.

Xtreme - always fun at the Waters

Xtreme  Still time to come
It is an easy drive to Oshkosh and it is worth the fun. The Monday night event keeps the sailors happy all night gambling for prizes and the parents enjoy the view from the decks, the libations at the dinner and the on the water experience will prepare you for the following week's ILYA Champs. Racing begins in the morning this year on Monday. The extra practice will pay off for Inlands. And remember the lunches come in adult sumptuous salad form and plentiful sailor form. Bring your little ones to play in the park at the launch site or across the street at the small zoo with a train.
