|Youth Regattas in July
Forty-nine select women sailed in Chicago for the US Sailing Girls Singlehanded championships. Our sailors placed in the top 20. Minnetonka's Isabella Loosbrock finished 13th, Mary Claire Kiernan (Beulah) 15th and Addy Ferguson (Minnetonka) 17th.
Results are not posted yet: RJ Porter with Kyle Navin won the GLSS X; Alex Keck the RWB Opti and Thomas Whowell won the 27-boat Green fleet. ---- more when results are posted.
Lake Forest hosts the event July13-15. Still time to participate. There are only 7 Green sailors but over 20 420's. Lasers and laser radials will also compete. There is a clinic taught by Gordon Lamphere tomorrow morning for Lasers. For those of you who have never attended Lake Forest, it has a beautiful sand beach for viewing the event, great shops for those who want to enjoy something else while the sailors compete. This is really a great venue.

I-20 Invite and Melges 17 Champs - Pewaukee welcomes both fleets this weekend. The Melges 17 boasts as many youth sailors as adult skippers. Now that's a fleet with potential. The I-20 fleet brings a variety of our clubs togehter - Neenah-Nodaway, Fond du Lac, Wauwasee, Oshkosh, Minnetonka snd Mendota.
E Invite - Never been to Gull? the "extra" miles up north are worth every second - and an easy drive. This is beautiful country with folks who give you the warmest welcome. If you go once, you will have to return. There are thirty pre-registered. It's not too late!
MC Invite - Twenty-six pre-registered but only one from SE WI. Your northern friends travel down here regularly so pack the boat and head up to new water - old feel for the drive but a part of Minnetonka you have not sailed. Support your fleet and enjoy the MC! You can always drop your wife at Mall of America for a couple days of shopping.
C Invite - the schedule of Thursday, Friday, Saturday allows the best sailing on Geneva. C dads, with any luck you can only miss one race on Saturday so you can watch your young sailor at WYA. Registration is low --register now so Geneva can plan. Lynch Dealerships as Presenting sponsor and Capital Brewery and Melges Performance Sailboats as sponsors.
The anticipated number of entries will allow for mooring on club docks and nearby buoys during lunch. Therefore, lunches may be served (and enjoyed) at the LGYC facility instead of on-the-water. The SOCIAL section of the NOR is revised accordingly as follows:
On Wednesday, food will be available by order from the Club kitchen after 5:00 p.m. The "Beer Gator" will serve free beer (Wisconsin Amber - thanks, to sponsor Capital Brewery and our Presenting Sponsor Lynch Dealerships) and soda from 4:00 to 5:00. The Clubhouse Bar will be open for complete cash service.
Available dock and nearby buoy space will allow lunches to be served on land. Thursday's lunch buffet ($9) will consist of all the fixin's to make your own sandwich. Friday's lunch buffet ($9) will be burgers and brats and related items. A pre-presentation buffet lunch ($10) will be available after Saturday's race or races, during haul out, and up to the trophy presentation.
The "Beer Gator" will run for an hour after the racing Thursday and Friday with free beer and soda.
Thursday night is the Regatta Dinner (Italian Pasta Buffet-$15). The Dinner will be casual, and we invite you to stick around rather than bother to go home, change, and return. Serving may start as early as 5:00 p.m.
Friday night will feature a Fish Buffet dinner (Fried or Broiled Cod and all the fixin's-$14) at the Yacht Club.
All lunch and dinner purchases must be made before or during the registration period.
Special Package Price ($50): Complete lunch and dinner package, including Thursday, Friday, and Saturday buffet lunches, Thursday night Italian Pasta Buffet, and Friday Night Fish Buffet is a $57 value. Save $7 by ordering your package prior to the close of registration.
We hope to see you for some great racing and good socializing!
