MC Invite -- Beulah--  Zack Clayton Wins1

 Milt and George

George Kutschenreuter, youth, and Milt Haeger, Grand master, battled it out for the final race win Sunday. Zack Clayton had the title wrapped up on Saturday night and while rounding in the top five, quietly enjoyed the rest of the race to allow the contenders to sail their own race. Chairperson Al Haeger with assist from newcomer Bridgette Bonifield, added a twist to the event by pairing Legends and Heroes for a combined regatta finish. Winners Peter Tourmanoff and Noel Neumann topped quite a list of past winners: Kelly HIrn with Hardy Will, Tim Fredman, Dan Fink, Eric Hood, Jack Kern, Zack Clayton and, forgive the editor for forgetting the last name. It brought a little levity to a poor race as your partner excelled or tanked right with you.

Invite - Delavan -- Vincent Porter Takes Trophy
vincent porter
Geneva took the top two spots and look at the youthfulness of the winning team! Vincent Porter is back on top with the team of Clifford Porter, Coye Harrett, Vincent and Griffin Rolander. The I-2 bested the team of Peter Strothman, Eric Youngquist and Corbett Porter (below). With several more youth boats registered, this bodes well for the health of the E fleet.

Youth Development Committee Meeting at Geneva

ilyaburgeeSailing School Directors and Instructors - Commodore Rick Trester asks you to join him Monday night of GLSS, July 11th. The meeting is scheduled for immediately after racing at the park near Gordy's in conjuction with the evening party. Why attend? The ideas you generate here impact our direction for the future. The addition of support for the Laser and 420, the introduction of HS sailing - all came from the Youth Development Committee years ago. This is YOUR opportunity to learn, share or just give us direction. The official X and Opti meetings will take place at the championship events. If there are items that need to go on their agendas, bring them to this meeting.
X Treme - Always a HIT! Not to be missed - relaxed Monday start time.
xtreme2011 Phone Booth - Can it be more fun? Adult gourmet sandwiches.

OUR YOUTH ROCK!  US Sailing Women's Doublehanded

The US Sailing Women's Doublehanded Ida Lewis Event begins today in Barnagett Bay. The ILYA has 5 teams competing. Check here tonight for the first day's racing results.

Some of the teams have competed in X boats and High School events together for years. They will be wearing pinnies with their home yacht club on the front but with the ILYA logo on the back of the pinnies to mark their heritage and pride of the Inland. Thanks and good luck, girls.

North Lake Announces Two Events

Pram Power registration forms are now available.  Late fees after August 8th.  This is an awesome sailing experience for the beginner sailors. While one fleet sails, the other does crafts. Siblings won't complain about having to tag along to this regatta. It is geared toward green fleeters, but we realize and welcome those RWB sailors that aren't sailing at the top of their fleet and are looking for another racing experience that is also geared toward social networking. Therefore, the following sailors definitely should not register: Red/White/Blue fleet sailors that have placed in the top 15 overall or in the top 5 of their fleet at ILYA Opti Champ Regatta.

Reminder for BOPN on North Lake:  Calling all Beaver, Okauchee, Pine and North Lake sailors - X-Boats on Wed July 20th and Optis on Thurs July 21st.  Contat Ken Van Till at curler.ken@gmail.com.  Forms can be found on www.nlss.us on the forms/links page.
