Quantum Inland Escapes the Cold at Strictly Sail
Quantum Inland escaped the cold weather over the weekend by speaking with many scow sailors as well as a huge group of Great Lakes keelboat racers and cruisers during the Strictly Sail Show at Chicago's Navy Pier. The foot traffic was excited to get out of the sub-zero cold and think sailing. Both Zack Clayton and Jim Gluek attended this exciting event that always unveils some of the neatest gadgets, newest clothing and improvements in boats on the market for both the racer and the cruiser. Local sailors can take pride that there were many ILYA Members working for their respective companies. With the team at Quantum Sails, Don Anderson - Anderson Marine & Catalina Yachts, Hoofers Sailing Club, Wisconsin Sailing Team, Aquarius Sails, John Porter from Hedlund Marine, Melges Boatworks, Windward Boatworks, Harken and many more.
The Quantum booth highlighted two great things from Quantum Sails. First was the live and always running on floor seminars run by Jack Klang. Jack is a genius with getting people up to speed on how to feel more comfortable with their boats. Not only just for the novice, Jack has a great model boat with working sails and can show you some pretty cool things about jibing your asymmetrical and getting your sailtrim to look good. Secondly was the ability for everyone to sign up for Quantum's own Destination One Design (www.destinationonedesign.com). This all inclusive webpage with a weekly e-newsletter as well as upcoming scow specific edition and relevant scow related podcasts is a great resource for all scow sailors. You can even upload your boat, organize your crewing teams and schedule your regatta season at the ingenious Boat Yard section.
All in all, it was an exciting show with many of the great sailing faces we see all summer as well as some great new people excited about sailing scows and sailing in general. Harken celebrated their 40th anniversary over the weekend with a great seminar and special photo walk of fame at their booth. Seminars, RC boat sailing and entertainment all highlighted this great event.
Come and visit the Quantum booth at the Winter Inland this coming Friday and Saturday. Check out some of the latest Quantum gear and duffle bags, as well as chat with your sailmaker about any needs you may have. Remember, there is a great special on 2007 X-Boat sails, so don't miss that opportunity! Then stay to catch the Quantum Inland Seminar: Putting Together the Speed Puzzle during the breakout session in the afternoon! See you all there!
