|Our New Look
|Thanks to Larry Kmiecik
Watch for a change to our header each week as Delavan's Larry Kmiecik adds a new area of interest for us. If you have a favorite photo, he welcomes your additions. In particular, if you have a photo that is correlated to the sailing calendar, please submit the photo to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Larry is a talented photographer. Many of you may recall his drone flying high over E Nationals or other events.
|Please order this app!
| Bring your phone or iPad to Winter Inland
Chris Lieber, Pewaukee, will explain a new app which allows you to push notifications. That means you can write one message and send it to your entire fleet, your entire yacht club or the entire Inland.
Why do you want this? The official notice board is always the ultimate notification system but this allows you as a local race committee officer to notify your homelake fleet and say, "stay on shore, we are going to postpone". Or it allows the race victor to say, "Party at my house in an hour".
Why do we want this? The new format for the Big Inland presents us with some additional wonderful challenges. To optimize our time on the water for both the AM and PM sailing and land enjoyment, we will be able to notify you of our time schedule or our intentions. This will NOT replace the official notice board, we are investigating a complete regatta management system which will allow us to email you BUT this is just an additional, more immediate way for us to communicate.
Chris Lieber explains it to his sailing friends like this. This app is designed for teams like cross country, soccer, etc. where individuals or coaches can track statistics of the team:
People are always asking each other questions like: When is the next race? Do we have 1 race or 2? When is the next party and what time does it start?
Now, thanks to Statwack, those answers are just a tap away directly on your smartphone.
Perfect for fleet captains, club social schedules and regattas.
Statwack - an app for your team (or fleet or regatta or more!)
From the football team to the chess club, now your team can have its very own app just like the pro teams use!
- One tap access to your Schedule, News, Results and more.
- Use it for team and fan communication. No more missed practice or event updates. No more paper rosters for fans in the stands.
- Take control of your team directly from your mobile phone and stop waiting for website changes.
- Super easy setup - create your team in minutes.
News - Post news items and everyone following the team will receive a push notification on their phone.
Schedule - Easy to read list of events with dates, times, descriptions and even scores.
Roster - List players and their positions and any additional stats or characteristics you would like.
Photos - Users can share photos & videos from their Facebook albums or upload new photos & videos.
Links - Link to registration forms, waivers, results or other information already on the web.
Fan Club - Attract a fan base to build interest amongst your future players and keep alumni involved.
Admins - Delegate admin access to your team managers and parent liaisons, so you can focus on coaching.
Results - Input results immediately after the game and have a real time comments feed going during the game.
The app is $ 0.99 on the and the - or use the free website on your computer at
When logging in to the app, Statwack recommends using the Facebook option, so you don't have to remember another username and password. It also enables optional photo/video sharing, comments and integration with your team's Facebook Page if you have one. NOTE: you do NOT need to be friends with teammates or coaches.
The app costs $.99. We will use it during the Winter Inland in a learning session but also practically to tell you to wind down your session or to come join us for cocktails and awards. You can announce your Saturday night dinner/party plans to your "team".
Chris Lieber will speak and teach you about the "team" concept. You can speed up your use by purchasing the app in the app store before you come.
|Support our vendors
Here is a new vendor. Ladies, this alone is enough to bring you to the Winter Inland. Remember your needlepoint days? Well, you can return to that or have Seth Berman's company complete the project also. The Delavan X sailor (from many years ago) runs a needlepoint company with a website http://www.needlepaint.com/
for online ordering. While he features your favorite quotes or animals, HE DOES YACHT CLUB LOGOS! He will send along some info and products for the Winter Inland. His background was website development but he learned to love online sales and nautical themes. Just to make you jealous, he is doing a Lake Beulah pillow for our Winter Inland viewing.
You will see two color motifs for Delavan in this photo. Seth will not be in attendance so contact him directly from his website for more info.
Always a hit at our events, Stelluca returns with new gear. Again, it brings a little art to the event. New items are here this season. Come and meet Ollie, Melissa, Luca and Stella. Bags, wallets, luggage tags, passport holders - it's the complete line.
Did you know Bob Hillier's Lake Geneva company outfits national and international sailors? The Alpari World Champs Dan Morris and Taylor Canfield (ILYA connections) wore great Line Honors gear to the World win. He carries the kids' newest "hot" Zhik line. Great new bags. In addition, he will be happy to carry your club's line of merchandise.
Andy Burdick will be our afternoon "Go Fast" speaker. There are few or none with as many titles as Andy. He competes now often with his small children in C's or MC's. He still comes to top with this decided advantage of Mya and Finn. In other words, he is always a champion. As you consider our fortunate success in scow sailing, know it is due to our strong relationship with our builder. From our X boat to the large Melges 32, we have a partner sailing right along with us.
Welcome the newcomer to scow sail production. UK has had recent success at the southern MC Fall 2014 regattas. Mike Considine of UK has recently purchased an MC and is looking forward to meeting our fine sailors. His children sail Optis and 420s in Chicago and have expressed interest in our X program as they meet our youth sailors. What better tribute to who we are to have a sailmaker want to join our way of sailing. Stop to see Mike and John Porter at the Winter Inland.
Those of you near to Pewaukee certainly know Aquarius Sail. He is the go-to guy for your Opti and 420 boats and supplies. John McDaniel will return to the Winter Inland as a regular. There hasn't been a Winter Inland without him. Whether cruiser, recreational or racing sailor, Aquarius carries your needs.
When you think of Melges Performance boats, you think of North Sails. From Opti to large boats, North is your answer. The Melges team will assist you in your selection. And then compete along side you. Come see them at the Winter Inland.
Come to compete, but stay for the fun!
