Who's Where?
Paul Reilly
C boaters in Florida
While you're watching football, Paul Reilly and Kent Haeger are sailing all season in the Melges 20 circuit. Add Andy Burdick, Mike Greeson and Brian Brickler to the mix and it's no wonder this fleet competes at such a high level.

And the rest?

Miami is abuzz with sailors, coaches and parents in all classes, of all ages. The Orange Bowl event features youth sailors, but from Christmas to the end of January our beginners to Olympians share the breathtaking water of the Miami skyline. Our Olympic hopefuls move in to practice, attend clinics, and then participate in the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta. It's an exciting time for all of US sailing.

So to all of you sailing, good luck and keep us informed with your results. To those of you at home, keep following Coral Reef YC, US Sailing or the individual class associations to cheer on our sailors.

Winter Inland - New Format, New Site

US Sailing President Gary Jobson to Speak
Youth Sessions return to Friday night. The X and Opti fleets will meet jointly with measurement, regatta format, progression to youth boats all on the agenda. Chenequa Country Club will host us in an elegant manner. This does present us with an opportunity to provide all our members with private housing. In addition, the hotels along the I-94 will be close by.

Saturday schedule changes with a more casual lunch served buffet style to allow a looser time schedule for our fleets to discuss promotion and future regatta sites and ideas. ILYA Club Delegates will elect Directors. Awards and the keynote speaker will commence late afternoon after hors d'oeuvres and libation. Gary Jobson will speak to the afternoon/evening crowd. All are invited to stay the whole day for our new look.

Saturday - 9:00 Sailing Promotion, Melges 17 and I-20

The ILYA Foundation Prepares for the Olympics;  Stephanie Roble Receives Latest Award for Matchracing

As the year concludes, think of the Foundation for your donation dollars. The Foundation has two components: Individual accounts for Olympic hopefuls and General Foundation Funds for others pursuing national or international challenges.

Those with registered accounts are the Sally Barkow Match Race Olympic Campaign, the John Ruf 2.4mR Paralympic Campaign, and the Kevin Jewett JK Sailing 49er Olympic Campaign. Specific donations can be made to any one or more of these accounts via ILYA.

Think of us at year's end. Your money today helps already in 2011 as our sailors begin the Olympic classes regatta in FL in January. The ILYA welcomes new accounts and new requests for funds. Contact Jim Smith at for more info.
