US Sailing President Gary Jobson to Speak
Youth Sessions return to Friday night. The X and Opti fleets will meet jointly with measurement, regatta format, progression to youth boats all on the agenda. Chenequa Country Club will host us in an elegant manner. This does present us with an opportunity to provide all our members with private housing. In addition, the hotels along the I-94 will be close by.

Saturday schedule changes with a more casual lunch served buffet style to allow a looser time schedule for our fleets to discuss promotion and future regatta sites and ideas. ILYA Club Delegates will elect Directors. Awards and the keynote speaker will commence late afternoon after hors d'oeuvres and libation. Gary Jobson will speak to the afternoon/evening crowd. All are invited to stay the whole day for our new look.

At a glance:
Friday - 5:30 - 8:00 Youth meetings: Opti to our older youth
Saturday - 9:00 Sailing Promotion, Melges 17 and I-20

The ILYA Foundation Prepares for the Olympics

As the year concludes, think of the Foundation for your donation dollars. The Foundation has two components: Individual accounts for Olympic hopefuls and General Foundation Funds for those who will be our future Olympic hopefuls. The ILYA Foundation collects funds for those actively campaigning. Those with 2012 registered accounts are Sally Barkow, John Ruf and Kevin Jewett. Those accounts are charged a 4% administrative fee: 2% goes into the ILYA General Fund for the cost of operating the fund (clerical and banking fees) and 2% into the General Foundation Funds to support our future sailors.

Think of us at year's end. Your money today helps already in 2011 as our sailors begin the Olympic classes regatta in FL in January. The ILYA welcomes new accounts and new requests for funds. Contact Jim Smith at for more info.

Pewaukee Receives US Sailing Nod for Champion of Champions Event

by Augie Barkow

The US Sailing Champion of Champions board voted  to award the 2012 US Sailing Champion of Champions regatta to Pewaukee YC and the C Scow fleet. For those who are not familiar with this regatta, it is very much like our scow Blue Chip regattas for all one design sailors in the United States.  Applications must be submitted to US Sailing and in order to be even considered, you must have won your class national, world or other top event.  Scow National or ILYA champs sailors have qualified in the past.  The Jack Brown trophy has been sailed for since 1976 and growing each year in becoming one of US Sailing's top championship regattas.  20 teams will be selected (19 applicants and 1 special guest) will make up the fleet.  This regatta is typically held in the fall and will hopefully follow the E Blue Chip in 2012.

I want to thank all those who have helped in the process so far and thank all who will step up in the future to help show the sailing world that the ILYA can host premier national events with great success.

More information will follow as the event nears.
