THE Champs - Everything You Need to Know
Here we go! Geneva is ready with each of the sailing sessions featuring a casual dinner($15) and a more formal dinner ($25). Racing back to back to back (on three-race days) to allow for a later start and less pier hassle for lunch. Lunches will be available for purchase to take out on the water. RC will give you a break between races for a leisurely sail back to the start for the post-lunch race. That brings you in early for the entertainment which is outstanding - thanks to our sponsors and the creativity of Mike Keefe, Geneva's Commodore. We have the return of the Gator and lots of girls we all like - Mount Gay Girls, Captain Morgan Girls, Budweiser Girls. (I'm not sure it's about the girls!). You get the picture - Geneva has worked to get us all in a festive mood to enjoy the event with great sponsors. The major sponsors listed below will make the evenings a special place to be by subsidizing the awards and evening music/food.

Pram Power - Get your little tyke ready
by Frank Janssen
North Lake Pram Power is quickly approaching.  It is set for Thursday, August 12 at the North Lake Yacht Club.  It is a great regatta for beginning sailors, sailors who don't have many opportunities to race and/or don't sail a the top of their fleet.  The Junior Fleet (age 8 and under at 1/1/10) and Senior Fleet (age 8 and over at 1/1/10) sail at different times and can use the same boat, so your family/club doesn't have to transport as many boats. There are awesome crafts again this year--bags, picture frames, bottle holders, T-shirts (different this year--bring a black/dark cotton T), and the all time favorite-Shrinky Dinks!  Along with crafts there is face painting and tattoos and an awesome raffle-including a boat cover from Aquarius, Rashgard shirts from Harken, Stelluca bag, American Girls Doll and much more! Are you having fun yet?!  There is a check-in/drop-off opportunity at the Yacht Club the night before the regatta from 6:30-7:30 pm.  Non-sailors can purchase the craft package which includes lunch. We serve a hearty taco lunch with peanut butter sandwiches for our non-meat eaters. The racing registration fee increases after Sunday, Aug 8th, so get your registration in today!  More race details are on the NOR and Registration form and can be found on  Questions?  Contact Terese Bailey at 262-751-5000.

ILYA X Lost and Found
There is a ton of stuff left at Pewaukee in the lost and found. Pewaukee will hold the items until after the X Blue Chip and then will dispose of them.  Anyone interested should call the PYC and arrange a time to retrieve lost goods. The telephone number is 262.691.9927. Those of you from Minnesota who left your children behind, there were sightings of them clustered together at the Opti Inland. We have decided not to return the sailors. We like them down here.
September events
Please submit your club's September regattas or the Fall high school program info for inclusion in the next Scowlines.
Here's a Fall C event. September 25-26 Beulah C Challenge. This is an event where the youth have been attending, crews sail skippers' boats or you can just attend in a regular fashion. This regatta was devised by the C committee as a promotion event but it is just fun with a casual approach.
US Sailing C of C event.

Lake Pelican C event
pelican c
by Jeff Peltier

Saturday and Sunday saw sailing in the 46th Wallwork Regatta on Lake Pelican  near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.   There were 9 C scows competing in that division with several sailors from Lake Minnetonka which made for very competitive sailing.

Saturday races started slow with the breeze finally filling and one race was completed before lunch.  Ben Burgum and crew James Burgum won the first race.  Afternoon races had to be cancelled as the wind diminished.  Saturday evening the Pelican Lake Yacht club hosted a wonderful dinner on the shores of the lake complete with live music and even some tired sailors dancing.

Sunday the breeze built and two races were completed while dodging a thunderstorm.   Tim Krech, Lake Minnetonka, and crew Katie Burgum and Abby Burgum won the first race and Jason Ostbye, Lake Minnetonka, and crew Hans Dickel won the second race.  Tim Krech was the over all winner of the regatta in the C Scow Division.  Race results for the C Scow Division are below or link to for all the results.
