420 Action Outside the Inland

420s

CJ Buckley Team Racing Championships

With over a couple hundred sailors in attendance, one sportsmanship award was presented to Malcolm Lamphere from Lake Geneva. Malcolm joined some sailors from St. Georges and finished 5th in the Gold Fleet but it is the sportsmanship award that made him a winner in the event.

Buzzards Bay Regatta

One hundred and fifty-six 420s are on the water at the annual Buzzards Bay Regatta. Augie Dale (Pewaukee) sits in 8th with an out-of-Inland crew; Alex Vasiliou and Mark Davies (Lake Geneva) are 11th. Jack Bitney and Keeley Zirker -28th

Carter Cooper and Kelly Monahan - 58th

Charlie Hollister is crewing for an eastern skipper and sits in 77th. Sailing continues through the weekend.

WYA C
Celebrating 75 years
The Wisconsin Yachting Association selected the right club to host this special year of the organization. LacLaBelle is hosting a smashing event with special entertainment both nights. The volunteers of LaBelly button fame have pulled out all the stops - fabulous softgoods, hospitality extraordinarie, great homecooked meals  - they are simply loving every part of being a host. The regatta is located on the grounds of Shorehaven on the western end of town. The picturesque site is a few doors west of the famous Chookie place. For those of you unfamiliar with this legend, he was a permanent fixture on the race course during the time of Snake and Snuff Schneider. His return on the radio is a comforting sound. Along with wife Ann and Walter Schwarting (another WYA treasure), the windward part of the course is in good hands. The WYA has allowed the "youngsters" handle the lower part of the course - Larry and Marilyn Krause,  Mark DeGuire , Jeff Eineichner and  Rob Wierdsma. Craig Adams has our go-to man on the water with a most gracious demeanor.

Two races were sailed yesterday per the WYA custom. The two seventy+ minute races were a gentlemanly, civil approach after most regattas have increased and shortened the racing style. Fifty-seven boats graced the water:
Cedar - 7
Beulah - 19
Delavan - 1
Nagawicka - 3
Lac LaBelle - 13
North Lake - 2
Okauchee - 9
Pewaukee - 3

The masters of the C won the two races: Ed Eckert with Matt Schmidt from Cedar (above) and Kent Haeger with Mike Greeson from Beulah (below).
Race results were not found posted on the website. Most unofficially the results are
1 - OO824 Harris and Morgan
2 - E88 Schmidt and Prange
3 - N181 Keck and Keck
4 - A136 Eckert and Schmidt
5 - A22 Tewes with new crew, not Jaessing
6 - E55 Tarmann and Andreski
7 - B303 Davenport and Jarecki
8 - B7 Kutschenreuter and Schmidt
9 - N47 Grosch and ???
10 - E1 Prange and Stelter
