ILYA Youth Champs

Connor
Local sailor Connor Corgard won the ILYA Youth Champs held at Lake Calhoun. A large contingent of young sailors, hailing from at least ten lakes, sailed the event. St. Croix Sailing Club was represented for the first time at an ILYA Youth event. Welcome!
PRO Tom Hodgson officiated the event on the small Lake Calhoun where motorboat traffic is strictly regulated. This metropolitan lake offers a walkway around the lake for exceptional viewing.

Regatta organizer Mike Woldum promised a great event with chartered 420s which contributed to the exceptional participation level. Congrats to Calhoun for a great event. Note this is the first time the event has been run in August. The event had been held in June in recent previous years in Madison utilizing the Hoofers boats.
Scores indicate sailor, boat number, total points and then individual race results.

Who Is Listening?
YOU!  Our recent Facebook traffic on the Big Inland Facebook page indicates 1782 visits the past week. Last week some 890 of you tuned in to follow the racing results. That's a lot of viewing during our sailing event.
What does this say? Our sailors want to know. Each regatta organizer today is faced with an additional task which simply did not exist ten years ago or even two years ago.Twitter, Facebook, e-newsletters are now the norm. All big events now feature webpages before the event with registration, NOR and housing info posted. The biggest challenge is the up-to-date or even live posting that is now the expectation. Hope you enjoyed the Facebook mark roundings which were entered except when rescuing A boats in the big blow.
Our Scowlines publication number is now nearing 1800. Our open rate is nearing 50%. The national industry open rate is at 12%.
