The first day of the 2013 E and MC Champs is in the books and since three races were completed, we have an official regatta. A morning race was completed after an approximate half-hour delay while winds shifted. Both fleets took lunch on the water after the first race while the weather conditions did not allow setting a fair course. Two back to back races were completed with an approximate 1:30 start. Both fleets were heading in by 3:45.

E fleet

Tom Burton with Bruce Martinson and Charlie Burton tops the leaderboard with consistency. He is the sole sailor with all top ten finishes. The fleet has been up and down with finishes due to the shifty nature of the winds on day one.

SHIMMER, helmed by Russ Lucas, hails from Bayhead, NJ and won race one start to finish. Russ also sails Melges 20s in the fall-spring season.

Jule Hannaford with a White Bear transplant on the front, Charlie Helmes, took the second race.

Peter Strothman took over the third race at the last leeward mark. Peter now sails at Lake Geneva after growing up with the strong Minnetonka fleet. More than half the fleet here is from Minnetonka.

MC Fleet

Open (under 50 years of age) sailor Bill Colburn from Lake Harriet has tough competition from Minnetonka's Mark Christiansen. This fleet will have a throwout after six races.
