DAY ONE - E'S, C'S AND I-20S READY TO GO

gREENLAKELOGO

you can feel the excitement build as the boats roll in. Registration continues this morning 7:30-10:00. C's hold the competitors briefing at 9:00 for a 10:00start. The other two fleets begin one hour later.
I-20s Looks like homelake sailor John Hayashi has done a great job recruiting. Look for 17 boats on the starting line. There are more Indiana Bolles here than you can shake a stick at. Can you tell the editor is from nearby Ohio? The two Bolles boats brought along another boat so it makes three for Wawasee. Fond du Lac is strongly represented with four boats; three from Mendota - looks to be a great competitive field. With beautiful spinnakers, it will be a feast for the eyes on this grand lake.Geneva's Devin Farley serves as PRO.
E's Thirty-nine are here and the field will be tough. Minnetonka is well represented with nine boats and talent galore. Pewaukee shows its strength with eight; Oshkosh and Mendota have five. With names like Porter, Gluek, Barkow, Evans, Burton, Jewett and Bowers - the oldsters have returned. And from far away Torch Lake, Art Brereton makes an appearance with a tough crew of Melges and Ward. PRO Terry Bischoff gets them going at 11:00.
C's Forty-five will respond to the fun, oops, gun. The GooseBlind action has already begun. Twelve - yes, twelve Beulah boats will party hearty - oh, sail well, here on Green Lake. Cedar not to be outdone brought nine. Okauchee has seven - have to count Steve "Hot off the WYA" Schmidt sailing a borrowed boat from North Lake. Son Tim will sail the E-89. PRO Chip Mann will host the strongest field imaginable in this fleet. For those of you in attendance here, please look up to the top of the sails to see the gold C insignias designating past C National champs. It is anyone's regatta.

And for those of you at home. Tune in your computer to Sailgroove. Look for live shots, interviews and loads of reporting. Scowlines will come to you each morning with yesterday's results. Sailgroove will be testing the WI-FI at the regatta site. We seem to think the GooseBlind has everything so rumor is we can pick up a strong signal from there. Who would have guessed where the action will be? Go to the sailgroove site to watch the day's action. Be patient. We may need to find a site with strength but we will bring you live action as possible.
