Okoboji Mixes it up with Three Heavy Air Races

BURDICK CONTROLS FIRST IN CLASS
e day 2
Consistency has kept Andy Burdick, Peter Keck and Coye Harrett at the top. Add the fourth Meg Six and finishes of 1-3-2 and you have control of the leaderboard. Kevin Jewett retains sceond but a great day by Rob Evans places him one point away from Jewett in V123. One major crash resulted in Sam Rogers with a hacksaw and rudder at lunch but everyone sailed the final race of the day.

COLBURN LEADS BY SIX POINTS
Colburn on day 2
With another race win, Bill Colburn (above) continues in first in the MC fleet. Tipovers and boats retiring were fare for the day in the high wind day. Even regatta chair Steve Avery took a swim. Any boat who had a crew took one. Even Commodore Porter went out with a desparate daughter but stopped after the races to change lest Chairperson Avery was starting early with a wet T-shirt contest. Not a desired look!

JAN AND DEBBIE GILL TOP M-16 FLEET
m16day2

The three-boat M-16 fleet sailed only two races on Day 2 and have an ealy start to Day 3. Much stays the same however. The Gill team (photo above) took both races. Jack Zimmerscheit and Carly Eckert split the two races on Day 2.

Social
A county fair theme greeted the returning sailors. Sliders (small pork sandwiches), mini corn dogs, shaved ice concoctions from an ice cream truck and music made a festive night. It seems the evenings are tame with most returning home or to hotels to watch Olympics, The go-karts are busy with sailors. Some veiled inuendos of misbehaving but Scowlines will keep that quiet until the rowdy C boaters arrive. All in all, it has been a fabulous three days with generous hospitality by Okoboji.
