Friday Family Night - ILYA Championships, August 21st
This night was created to be fun for all ages. From 6-7:00 before dinner, join in the Minute to Win It games. Six games requiring a multitude of varying talents will test your skills on land. The final two teams will be paired off in front of the crowd with emcee Joe Skotarzak leading the competition. So pick your team of 6 players - a family, a boat, a lake, a group of friends and challenge the clock as you take a Minute to Win IT!  (This is the perfect game for your grandparents so bring them along for the day. We have a luncheon and boat ride planned for them during the day.)

Thursday Dinner for non-Bilge Pullers at picturesque Gage Marine --Trout in Caper sauce, smoked chicken in BBQ mustard sauce, penne pasta, green salad and angel food cake with fresh berries. Meet your friends at Gage. Sign up on regatta site. We will be located in the Wood Boat Sand area where your children are free to play and climb. 
 
Friday Luncheon is for your mentors, your parents, those who have come before you. It is for our Legends and Heroes and that includes any from your lake who have supported you or the ILYA.

Day 1, overcast and light winds. 2 races in the morning in 5-8 mph, both races +/- 40 minutes long, break for lunch and 1 in the afternoon which started in winds 5-8, but ended with 4-5. First boat finished in 74:23 minutes with a 90 minute cut off time. All boats finished within the 30 minute deadline after the first place boat. All race courses were a 5 and about the same length.
Day 2, overcast and little to no wind. Average reading about 3 with the highest gusts at 6.7mph which at times maybe lasted 5 minutes. Races abandoned at 11:30

The team moves up a spot. It was a clean record all the way to the finals. Roble lost the the top matchracer in the world 3-1 but second at a world event is not all bad. This is the first time Sally Barkow has been added to the team after her near yearlong voyage around the world. Geneva's Meg Six participated and Chicago's Maggie Shea is a permanent member of the team. 
 
US Sailing Chubb Junior Championships  
Bitney Wins Sportsmanship Award, Mark Davies Third in 420
 ILYA sailors are moving up the national ladder. In the Singlehanded division Jack Bitney was 4th and Alex Bischoff was 11th of 20 sailors. Each region of the US is represented at this event. Both individuals from Area K are ILYA sailors. Jack Bitney is an ILYA X champion from Minnetonka. He will attend Tufts this Fall. Alex Bischoff is a Pine/Pewaukee sailors whose grandfather is a most recently retired US Sailing Race Committee legend. 

In the doublehanded division, Mark Davies from Geneva but sailing under the Chicago YC burgee sailed consistently to third. Joshua Sullivan and Clara Brown from White Bear were the other Area K qualifier and finished 10th of 20.
