The little green Opti guy returns. Lake Beulah is happy to host the Opti Champs with a little of the the new and a little of the past. The big raffle is back as is the Gator with lifejacket, the same Mexican dinner for Tuesday night with churros but the games are new. ILYA trophies are the same but race win trophies are added this year.
Raffle items: Shuffle iPod, hiking boots, quilt of Opti T-shirts, Roxy and Gill rash guards, Timbuk 2 messenger bag, games, water bottles, North Opti sail and other fun items all donated by our suppliers and the LBYC membership.
Registration begins Monday at 3:00; sailing is Tuesday and Wednesday. The Green fleet continues to be a two-day event and reports of 16 Geneva sailors wows us. What a fleet! What a future for Lake Geneva! We saw them last year at Cedar and they just keep coming.
Spectator boats abound, Boatlocker will be onsite Tuesday, the RC is ready! It's a regatta to attend.
Green fleeters - there has been discussion of who is eligible. There is always some gray area but if you have participated in Red, White and Blue regattas, you should consider sailing in those fleets. It is customary to remain RWB once you start that process. If you have won Green fleet regattas last year, you should probably be RWB. If you are bothered by younger sailors with less knowledge and poorer boat handling skills - sail RWB! We want our Green sailors to enjoy the regatta sailing with sailors their own skill level. Frustration due to less experienced fellow competitors is a factor to be weighed.
Sailing school instructors - please bring radios, motor boats and your always-great coaching skills. You make the Green fleet a success.
The ILYA Championship is just two weeks away and we are still missing some of our friends and fellow sailors. In the last week we have seen a good surge in the number of people registering for the Championship and have seen the E fleet add fourteen more boats, the A's are now up in the twenties, the I's have reached mid teens. The C's are in the twenties and the MC's have been adding steadily. This is good news but we really want to add more to it.

We are seeing participation from a host of different clubs, across all the fleets and it is rather refreshing to see all the boats from Cedar Lake Wisconsin registered, it bodes well for Rick Trester to hold on to his rum stash. In the C's we have boats coming from Cedar Indiana which we have not seen boats from in a while, Lac Labelle, Lake Nagawicka and even Green Lake has its first C boater.
The MC's have boats from Lake Harriet, Upper Minnetonka, Beaver, Lake Lotawana and even Clear Lake supporting those from the traditional MC hotbeds.

So who are we missing?

Dr Tom is there any chance you can shake the trees up in White Bear and bring along a few A Scows and E scows to this Championship. Fletcher it would be great to have you around and twist Lee Alnes's arm to come along as well. We would really love to have some of you from the birth place of the inland scow. Hey Avery's the gas is still pretty cheap in Wisconsin and we are saving you a spot for the trailer, how about rounding up a couple C boaters and a few MCer's from Okoboji to make the trip. At every regatta you need Chaos, hey Charlie and Tommy how about bringing the clan out from Clear Lake. It would also be great to see a couple of E scows from the northern reaches of the ILYA up in Gull Lake coming down. For those of you around Madison, hook up those MC's and C's on Monona and Kegonsa and Waubesa the drive is really quick and there is no highway construction which is even better.

We hope to see even more of you coming to Green Lake!
LAUNCHING AND REGISTRATION All of you A-Boats and MC's.  Your main registration day is Saturday, August 15.  Our launching hours are from 8 AM until 7 PM.  We ask that you try to get here early and launch before 2PM because we also have to takeout more than 100 boats from the first three days.  It will be a real "CLUSTER" if we are trying to do both at the same time.
So come early and we thank you for your cooperation
