Our latest sponsors:

The Cliffs of Fontana is a charming hillside community featuring 66 single family home sites just a stone's throw from the pristine shores of Geneva Lake and Fontana's square.  Homes start at 1,710 square feet for a ranch plan but can expand to almost 4,000 square feet when a basement is finished into lower level living space.  Five ranch plans and two 2-story plans are offered.  The Homeowners Association maintains the outdoor pool, all landscaping (including lawn mowing) and snow removal through a quarterly assessment.  With picturesque views and a commutable distance from major metro areas, the Cliffs offers that perfect blend of tranquility and convenience.

Check the ILYA website for housing details.

Sail Strong, Sail Pink - Naming Sponsor Announced
Olympic Fire Power on Instruction Team

White Bear's Sean Wagner/Melissa Martyr

Thank you to our naming sponsor New Studio Architecture for increased support to the second annual ILYA Women's/Girls' Clinic, July 15-16 The couple who supported us last year will be our major sponsor in 2015. In addition they have motivated the women of White Bear to attend en force. Karen Alnes, MC and A sailor, will accompany many White Bear sailors to the event.

The instruction team is the strongest imaginable: Rolex Yachtswoman, Olympian and Volvo sailor Sally Barkow; Rolex Yachtswoman, #1 Woman's Matchracer, Etchells World Champion Steph Roble, Olympic hopeful, member of Epic Racing (#1 Women's Matchracing Team) Maggie Shea and Annie Haeger skyping in from Rio. It will be hard to beat this group anywhere this year. then add 12 additional instructors - all women - to sit on your boat the entire two days.
Registration Lake Beulah will host the event for its second year (but plan to attend if your club is interested in hosting in 2016). The club has donated
six C's and six MC's along with instructors on a first come, first serve basis. BYOB (boat) entrants are additionally welcome. Bring your own boat allows our instructors to assist you with rigging. Opti and X sailors are welcome in any number. The registration fee has remained the same as last year $150 for the two-day event including catered lunches and banquet, Helly Hansen gear. Both sailors on a C or X must register. To register, click here
So you don't want to actually sail? The Wednesday night banquet is open to all. The honorary Board of Directors (12 women of excellence) sit at the dinner tables to stimulate conversation with our youngest sailors serving as role models as Women in Sailing. Corporate executives, accomplished ILYA sailors, leaders in sailing will discuss how sailing has provided training or enjoyment over the decades. Our three world re-known sailors will serve as speakers to share their year in review. To register for the banquet only, click here.

Can't attend but still want to help us? The participants who attend WILL meet and learn from some of the world's best sailors. They WILL experience the finest individuals in ILYA sailing. They WILL see our ILYA scows in action. This event is open to ILYA- club members only. Want to join New Studio Architecture? Thanks to Delavan's Dorrit Beck who has already supported us with a donation. Helly Hansen has added software at cost to honor their commitment to Sally and team SCA and Steph Roble. Sailing Outside the ILYA
Olympic contenders
Annie Kate Haeger and Briana Provancha led the field for Day one, sailed consistently and concluded the Hyeres, France ISAF World Regatta in fifth. They were the highest finishing US Sperry team member. This year's Hyeres event was attended by a higher quality of sailors due to pre-qualification criteria.

Meanwhile in Italy, Stephanie Hudson has returned to training after sustaining a sailing injury to her hand during the ISAF Miami event. She and her crew are preparing for the European regatta season in the Nacra 17.

College sailing
What a weekend! Be sure and check the collegesailing.org site but here are a few highlights - (I sure don't mean to miss anyone). George Kutschenreuter (Beulah) with Katrina Debbink (LaBelle) took top spot in A division in the Boston Dinghy Regatta.(Be sure to open A and B division scores on the college sailing site). You will see our sailors sailing for Vermont, Roger Williams, ODU, St.Mary's, Hobart, Tufts and on and on.

Also this week end of season awards are presented. Alex Swanson (Oshkosh) was named to First Team Crew sailing for Brown. (second from left). Brown women sailors qualified for Women's Nationals. The NEISA section of the country is packed with the strongest schools and, hence, receives the highest number of berths to the women's nationals.
Addy Ferguson (Minnetonka) was named to All MAISA Women's Second Team. Addy sails for Fordham. (Third from left)

The Midwest All-conference awards are announced in February for the preceding year: George Kutschenreuter, All-Conference Co-Ed Skipper -Beulah; Michael Lee, All-Conference Co-Ed Skipper - Lake Geneva and Delavan; Connor Trepton, All-Conference Co-Ed Skipper Honorable Mention - LaBelle; Leslie Poole, All-Conference Female Skipper - Delavan; Kate Klement, All-Conference Female Skipper - Beulah; Kelsea Kierstead, All-Conference Crew Honorable Mention - Oshkosh.
We have so many fine sailors continuing their love of the sport in college. Send us your end of year recap so we can highlight those who will be competing at Nationals or send us the end of year awards.
High School
Minnetonka and Oconomowoc will be heading to the Naval Academy for the Mallory Championships. Both Jack Bitney and Belle Loosbrock topped their divisions to take the title for the qualifier. Carolyn Keck and Tom Groskopf were the A and B division for Oconomowoc.

"What an amazing weekend for racing. With winds reaching over 25 knots, crews experienced super fast downwind rides and competed with some of the most talented sailors around. Congratulations to Jeremy Wilmot, Bora Gulari, Petey Crawford, and Crews who finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 2015 Charleston Regatta. We know that they will be back next year for more. A big thanks to the Carolina Yacht Club Race Committee, Safety Support Staff, Event Coordination Staff, and Sonny Mevers for opening his beautiful home to the competitors for the Saturday night cocktail event. Also a big thanks to our talented photographer Kayla Russell for all her hard work."
