Rarefied Air!!!  ---  Our Champions this week

The ILYA has so many successes this week, it is hard to know where to begin. With age first --- check out the Springfield C results below where 50+ year old Frank Davenport took the title.

Amongst this group of twelve, stands Pine's Sally Barkow (fourth from left). This week marks the first trans-Atlantic venture for the group. A daily blog has been posted to the ILYA Big Inland page to allow you to sail along with the crew. This trip Lanzarote to Newport will conclude May 6th. Take a look at the SCA Facebook page for beauty on the water but also the cleverest graphics and music. It's a visual experience to follow the exceptional promotion and reporting of the team. Click here for the actual route of the Volvo.

 ISAF Hyeres

Annie Haeger (Beulah) left with Dave Ullman and Briana Provancha were the only US medalists in the last ISAF series event. The 470 team sailed consistently to move up two places from their last two events. Haeger and Provancha took home the bronze behind the 2012 Gold medalists. They, too, have a blog which credits Gold Medalist and 470 guru Ullman with exceptional coaching. The photography and coverage of this team was extensive this event. Other ILYA sailors in attendance were Gordon Lamphere (Finn - Geneva) and Erik Bowers (Laser-Minnetonka).

High School Mallory Qualifier

It is smiles all around for the three qualifying teams to progress to the Mallory Championships in San Diego May 10-11. Nineteen schools with two teams each competed at Chicago YC this past weekend. Results here. Note the A and B division scores also to see the names of sailors. ILYA skippers took the top 6 slots in A division - Malcolm Lamphere, RJ Porter, Augie Dale, Jack Bitney, Parker Trepton and Mark Davies. Jack Behrend of Kettle Moraine was 9th. In B division, Belle Loosbrock, Mitchell Lee, Kelly Monahan, Carolyn Keck and Alex Keck/JP Munich competed.  Congrats for our strong showing.
