Lake Geneva 2015 ILYA Championships
Want to support the ILYA and its premiere regatta? The Saturday Night party is available with naming rights. You can have the name to yourself or join others to "own" the night. Then breakfast every morning or the after-race parties are yours for the asking - with a lesser commitment than the Saturday night offering. Help us make this a regatta to remember.

Cedar Icebreaker - May 2-3
Lotowana No Frills C Regatta

The Mo YC C-Fleet hosted its annual No Frills Regatta at Lake Lotawana on April 18-19.

Three boats ignored meteorologist's warnings and travelled from great distances to get a taste of small lake sailing with big boat attitude. With a forecast that kept some of the locals on shore, 11 boats competed for the coveted "air trophies".

Saturday was a washout so free beer and sub sandwiches ruled the day. Saturday night featured a mechanical bull riding contest.  We now know who can ride bulls. Reggie Cooley put her 4 H skills to good use and took the table honors. The kitchen help got into the action and displayed the wonders of youth.

Sunday brought us some NW winds at 7 - 10 mph. We sailed three 30 minute races. Smooth lake sailing without sunscreen. Eddie Robison and Sandy Jones took the top honors over Spencer "new C" Brackman and Charley Farley.  The story of the day was Justin Lentz picking up his dads boat and Gary Schroeder for crew and putting up finishes of 7-2-2. A late start in the first race is the only thing that kept him from spanking the whole fleet. Congratulations Jestin.

50th E Scow Blue Chip -

Video 1: Three Generations of Melges

Celebrate the E this September on Pewaukee
This year is the 50th E Scow Blue Chip Regatta hosted by the Pewaukee Yacht Club in Wisconsin. Each year, an elite sailor is invited as a special guest that is kept a mystery until just before the event. We provide the sailboat and the crew. To celebrate the 50th regatta, we are inviting 20-30 past mystery guests & honorary class legends back to compete against each other in this all-star event. Visit us at www.escowbluechip.com.
In this video, Team Melges (Buddy, Harry III and Harry IV) talk about past stories from the E Scow Blue Chip. Click here for the trio of Melges' on E Blue Chips.

Mallory Cup Invite

The Notice of Race for the 2015 U.S. Adult Championship is now posted at US Sailing.

The Mallory Trophy is held in such high regard by generations of sailors but many younger sailors have never competed for it. We also know that there are some excellent female helms with all male crews who mix it up with the best of them!  This year the Inland Lake Yachting Association is asked to submit one team for consideration to compete for the Clifford D. Mallory Trophy.

US Sailing is encouraging all RSA's to have a qualifier and to include sailors under 30 on the team.  If there is not time in Inland Lake Yachting Association's schedule to have a qualifier, you are free to determine another selection process including resume.  Only one nomination per RSA will be considered.

The link to submit Inland Lake Yachting Association's nominee  will be available on July 1.   This link will not be posted on the US Sailing website, but is sent directly to you as the Inland Lake Yachting Association representative.   You will then be able to send it along to your selected team.

The deadline for nomination submittals will be August 1st  at 2359 and invited sailors will be notified within two weeks to allow for teams to make travel plans.   US Sailing has secured discounted hotel rooms for sailors within minutes from the racing venue as provided housing is not available.

As teams sail past the Statue of Liberty, they will be inspiring future sailors at the same time.   "This summer, local kids will be encouraged to start sailing through the junior programs organized by the New York Harbor Sailing Foundation.  Then in the fall, these kids can volunteer at the National Championship and watch some of the best sailors in the country.  It will be an inspiring experience.", wrote Commodore Michael Fortenbaugh.

If you are interested, please submit your intention to Jim Smith at scowslants@aol.com.
