Cedar Lake - July 1-2
Thirty-five X boats gathered in HORRIBLE weather, luckily with extremely capable PRO, Lynn Barkow, to compete in four races. Wet, wet, wet, yet Again! The races saw a lot of the lake often in the same race as the wind was shifty and the rain came and went around the sailors as they navigated Cedar Lake.
Great sailing from a crop of strong juniors which bodes well for the fleet and their parents from Beulah, Cedar, Nagawicka, Pine, Oshkosh who were cheering for them.
The sailing saw three winners in the four races: B-125 Speedy B’s - Mia Brandt and Kyle Connor, A-7 So Confused - Carson Boemer and Jack Schlueter, and B-3 Tic Tack - Mason Keane and Cameron Brickler.
Monday was light and shifty, Tuesday medium but wet and always Cedar shifty. Top five:
1 – Mason Keane and Cameron Brickler 6 points Beulah
2 – Mia Brandt and Kyle Conner 16 points Beulah
3 – Carson Boemer and Jack Schlueter 20 points Cedar
4 – Lizzy Lynn and Pepper Gale 20 points Oshkosh
5 – George Lillwitz and Klaus Stein 24 points Beulah
The lunch line featured the oldies but goodies – moms from yesteryear with sons who are now doctors, lawyers, businessmen in their 50’s. Thanks so much to Danita Stich, Kelly Egan, Joan Zeigler, Janet Trigg, Jane Segerdahl. Rootbeer floats served by Anita Hauske and Greta Eckert. Old names, faithful members, sailing supporters forever.
The RC was full of Eckerts – Peter, Tom and Donna – and Bests – Bill and AJ. PRO Barkow brought along her husband Fred. Nagawicka and Beulah were also represented on the RC with Jeff Lippert, Michele Heinze and Candace Porter driven most capably by E sailor Mike Garty. Chair Katie Eckert had Karen Eckert Schmidt and Winn Eckert on food which was plentiful and especially tasty after the soaking rain.
