Thirty green fleeters and thirty RWB Optimist sailors took to the waters of Lake Beulah. Nagawicka's Henry Chapman took home the trophy at the end of the day. Meta Simon of Mendota/Pewaukee won the Green fleet

TRAP 

Joey Feichtmeier/Christian Spencer of Pewaukee and Charlie Kutschenreuter/Alex Keck of Beulah won the Senior and Junior titles at TRAP in convincing style. Both sailed far above the competition at Pine this week Congrats to all the sailors. The participation at both events bodes well for the health of the fleet. Look on the ILYA site later today for posted results

Youth Development Committee Meeting at Geneva

C SCOW CHALLENGE

This year the C scows will travel to Fond du Lac Sailing club for the Invitational. This is the first time that they have been there. As your Commodore, I am issuing a challenge similar to the challenge at Green Lake two years ago. I will award a 1.75 liter of Mount Gay rum to the ILYA fleet that has the most boats registered by July 1^st. I will award the bottle during the Saturday night party. Last time around Beulah led the way. Let's see who can take the Mount Gay away from them.

From the regatta committee:

We are looking at doing a three lunch package with two on the water and something a little more deluxe on Sunday on shore before the awards. Saturday evening we are looking at doing something on the order of a deluxe pork loin dinner. Friday evening is going to be left open for the competitors to do their own thing for dinner per their recommendation at the winter inland. The bar of course will be open. Each morning it is our plan to have a light continental breakfast. Each afternoon after the racing we are going to offer free beer for a limited time. If I find a willing volunteer, I would like to have them video the days racing and then replay it in the evenings in the club for the competitors to be able to watch on our big screens in the bar.

I was advised to keep the regatta low key and low cost for our first regatta for the C's. I don't have a set price for the meal package yet but we are looking to try and it in at $15 for Saturday's dinner and  $25 for the three lunch package. We are also trying to find a supplier/donor for water dispensers for the regatta to go along with  the clean regatta concept. We are also looking to get boat owners from the yacht club to provide the spectators with rides to watch the racing. I hope this gives to a good idea for what we are going to do for the weekend.

MC Invite - Beulah - July 7-10

Free housing, Friday night casual cruise on the lake, awards for Heroes, Legends and Contenders - who will win? Home lake sailor Zack Clayton returns and will offer a clinic on Thursday for those who might like early practice or tips. Beulah is known for its hospitality and challenging sailing. The home fleet is large and committed to participating or loaning the boats to youth. The current registration sits at 30 at the early deadline. Use the ILYA registration form online and the LBYC website to pre-order a meal plan. Thursday, Friday and Saturday dinner, Fri - Sun lunches for $45 online. 

E  Invite - Delavan - July 7-10

Does anyone do it like Delavan? They know how to give value and fun. Friday Night Fish Fry, dry sailing, great bar and clubhouse. Plenty of tourist attractions in Lake Geneva, Delavan or Milwaukee. There's no lake who loves the E's more than Delavan. They were advocates of the asymmetrical design. It's always great for the fleet to return to this active lake. Want to bring the children? There are waterparks, miniature golf and loads of Geneva ice cream, candy stores nearby.

Melges 17 - Oshkosh - July 15-17

This year's event will place a large emphasis on completing the six scheduled races. The timing for Saturday night's social event is flexible to allow for racing late into the evening if necessary. The Oshkosh Yacht Club encourages all ILYA Melges17 members to make it to Oshkosh for this year's championship event.

C invitational - Fond du Lac - July 15-17

The C fleet travels to a new site this year. Fond du Lac is unfamiliar to all but our I-20 fleet who loves the venue. A more picturesque site cannot be found. Sitting on the southern end of Winnebago, Fond du Lac yacht club features a lighthouse at the entrance to the bay. The launch site is spacious - both crane and ramp. Parking is plentiful in the park area surrounding the clubhouse. Want to bring the kids? Member Dave Whealon (Beth Wyman's brother so you can bet it's great) bought a small park near the club and it features a train (under $1 per ride), water boats - kayak and bumper boat rentals) and a small zoo. Food vendors are present for outside eating. For the mom's, discount shopping is a few miles north in Oshkosh - the American Girl store is a must for families with young girls; a Carters and Oshkosh b'Gosh store also. A North Face/Columbia store is also located at the same intersection along with a couple golf outlets. Back to sailing - the southern aspect of Winnebago has an entirely different feel from Oshkosh Winnebago. It's bound to be a challenge as all the fleet encounters a new body of water.  

Clear Lake Welcomes You

Ingredients for a great regatta:  outstanding venue, plenty of volunteers, excellent race committee teams and over 100 X boats and their families.  Just add water and this year's X Championships scheduled for July 27 - 30 will be one fantastic event. The planning is done and the Clear Lake Yacht Club is ready to host this annual event.  Register online by July 10 to avoid a late fee and to be entered into the Get out of Dodge drawing for priority take-out after the final race.  You can register online by going to ilya.org or via the Clear Lake Yacht Club website, clyciowa.com.  To make the on-site registration process easier, you can order your meals and regatta merchandise from the CLYC website before July 20^th.  Don't worry if you miss this date as you'll still be able to order these things at registration.
