Full Day of Racing - C's sail three; MC's four

 With changing winds, the threat of late afternoon storms, an afternoon two-hour lull which brought boats in and then back out, it was a busy day for sailors. With a smashing party catered by Connie Blanchard, mom of an Inland Champ, Minnetonka has hosted quite an event. And it has only just begun. A near-record 26 A scows converge on Tonka as the C and MC fleets complete racing and present awards today.

No C photos today as the photographers had difficulty emailing. So here is the C leader on land with his professional crew, Bre. Standing in for the two-time C Inland crew is Derek Packard, not shown.

 The MC's voted at Friday's meeting to allow RC the option of four races per day. PRO Phil Petersen complied after on-the-water consultation with the fleet rep and promptly lost over 20% of the fleet on race four. But consistency paid off for Harriet's Bill Colburn with wife Maureen crewing in the heavy wind. Minnetonka's Peter Slocum has two race wins under his belt.

  Here is the end to a perfect tonka Day. (Photo sent by Joe Skotarzak) On tap today, weather permitting, is one race for MC's warning at 10:00 and two races for C's an hour earlier. No race will be started after noon.  

 

X Blue Chip

Johnny Ferguson and Morgan Brackin (M67) won the 2011 X Blue Chip on Big Cedar Lake!  Races 1-4 were sailed yesterday, and due to thunderstorms and light wind, the 5th race was abandoned today.  Race 1 and 3 winners were Johnny Ferguson and Morgan Brackin (M67), race 2 winner was Parker Trepton (OO5), and race 4 winner was Kate Cox and Katherine Kunz (W66).  Top Girl Skipper went to Kelly Monohan who finished 7th.  Here are the top ten:
