| STEPHANIE HUDSON TAKES YOUTH CHAMPS |
| Youth
Champs results are in and what a great regatta with loads of Beulah
connections. In the 420 fleet, Chicago-based sailor Stephanie Hudson
with California crew Rebecca King topped the leader board. Will Haeger
and George Kutschenreuter won the last race. Anne Haeger had a tougher
day as winds built and was bested by two boys to end up third. Nudging
her out was Nevin Snow, reported by Jane Pegel to be the son of former
Beulah star Mary Brigden. Colin Smith raced to a 6th place finish in
the full rigs. Be sure to JOIN US Sailing but check out their website
for all the up-to-date news on youth, rules, adult championships,
equipment and race committee work. |

| X SAILORS SAIL QUAD LAKES |
| |
On day one it was all girls in the top five but yesterday provided
a bit more equity in the race results. What a healthy fleet as 76
sailors ( skippers and crew) from Beulah, Cedar, Nagawicka and Pine
competed. Kate Klement with crew Teresa Westin took it all home. She
bested Charlie Kutschenreuter with Tommy (T-money) Garber in second.
Allie Ruscher with brother Nick followed in 3rd preventing a Beulah
sweep. Fourth and 5th were rounded out with two brothers Michael Barr
with Gregory Westin and Cullen Barr with John Barr as crew. Nagawicka's
top boat was Sam Hart. Molly Seidel was top Pine boat.
To show how talented our sailors are, Pine's Molly Seidel recently
took home AS A FRESHMAN two state track titles - the mile and two mile.
Look for Quad results on the ILYA website later today. |
| EDITORIAL POLICY |
| | The
ILYA is fortunate to have two publications to disseminate information.
Both provide the opportunity for advertising. Contact Jim Smith for
pricing.
Scowslants is our print medium. Published quarterly, Scowslants
is the place for written record of your notice of race, equipment
sales, and full regatta reports. Executive Secretary Smith welcomes all
articles.
Scowlines is web-based email communication. It is meant
to be timely (and that is defined by next day in the summer) and
short-snippet with reference to other websites for elongated versions
of reports. For inclusion in Scowlines, please forward your
info to Candace Porter, and post on your website so a link can be
established. If you do not have the ability to post on a website, never
fear, the ILYA "hides" your info on our website so Scowlines can link to it.
In general, the Scowlines editor attempts to post regatta
results each Saturday night for your early Sunday morning review and
then again on Monday morning. (You might guess the hours of the
volunteer editor to accomplish this task). If the regatta results or
article are a week old, the Scowlines policy has been to forward the info to the ILYA office for inclusion on our website or in our next Scowslants. Scowlines is not meant to replace Scowslants just to keep you immediately up to date on scow sailing events. If your event has been captured by the Scowlines editor on the weekend, it is likely any further info submitted later in the week goes to the Scowslants publication. Scowlines has
moved onto the next set of events. You will always see promotional,
advertising, national class, US Sailing and other boating news as it is
received. If an ILYA member has sailed it, we most likely include it.
We upport our advertisers and any news from our boat and sailmakers.
Of course, editorial control remains with the ILYA. We do not
print negative, critical information but in this great scow world that
just rarely occurs. Errors do occur but part of that is due to the
"copy and paste" of articles submitted and then lax proofreading on the
part of the editors. And then sometimes we just make mistakes. We
welcome your corrections.
In that light, we wish to thank Cedar Lake, IN, one of our most
FUN lakes for hosting a most successful I-20 regatta this spring. Full
reporting is on other websites. Cedar Lake always know how to show us a
great time. Refer to the I-20 website for more info on that regatta.
ALWAYS CHECK OUR SCOW NATIONAL CLASS PAGES. They have great photos and
news of upcoming events. |
