| BILGE PULLERS SPRING MEETINGS DEADLINES |
| STEAK, DRINKS AND FRIVOLITY
May 6th is the deadline
for both the Northern and Southern meetings of loyal Bilge Pullers.
Admiral Allen orders you to report at either Lord Fletcher's in Spring
Creek, MN on May 16th or at Lake Beulah Yacht Club on Friday, May 9th.
The dinner is $35 and includes two free drinks with reservations by the
deadline date. Late reservation results in added fees of $5 late and
$10 for the "good works" fund plus the forfeiture of one drink ticket
to the thirsty Past Admirals. In addition it is time to consider those
from your member club who would be appropriate candidates for
induction. Nominees must be 25 years old, an ILYA member and a member
of the local club for the past two years. The deadline for nomination
of new Pullers is July 8th. |

| UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN OFF TO NATIONALS |
| WISCO QUALIFIES FOR ALL THREE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The spring collegiate sailing season
provides universities with an opportunity to compete in three separate
national events: Womens Doublehanded, Co-ed Doublehanded and Team
Racing Nationals. The championships are held in Newport, RI, this year
hosted by Brown and Salve Regina Universities. The NYYC site in Newport
will be the center.
University of Wisconsin has qualified in all three events. The
team racing qualification was achieved at Sheridan Shores who at the
last minute offered their club due to ice on the hosting Hoofers
Mendota water. Wisconsin and Notre Dame won the Midwest berths. Co-ed
qualilfiers were determined at an East and West semifinal weekend.
Wisconsin traveled to William Hobart Smith in NY to garner a berth. The
California and NY sites had a mix of Eastern, Western and Midwestern
teams with FL, Hawaii and Texas thrown in. Midwest Women's qualifiers
were held this past weekend at Michigan where Wisconsin and
Northwestern advanced to nationals. Loads of ILYA sailors were in
attendance at all the events. Wisconsin comes off the Fall Singlehanded
Nationals with both a female qualifier and male qualifier. For more
information, go to collegesailing.org and
look for the ILYA names of our talented sailors. You will see our
sailors at Miami University of Ohio, Eckert in FL, Old Dominion
University and many Midwest schools and more. |
