| Annie Haeger Wins ISAF World Qualifier at Alamitos Bay |

Anne Haeger of Lake Forest repeats as the US
qualifier for the ISAF World Youth Championship. Haeger finished second
last year. She will travel to Denmark in July to compete against the

| Jeff Ecklund Wins Melges 32 Acura Key West |
| Familiar names of Melges, Hood and Capozzi on Board

Key
West, Florida - Jeff Ecklund from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on 'STAR' is
Melges 32 ACURA Key West 2008 Champion. This is a very special event
for the Melges 32 as it is also its Midwinter Championship. With Harry
Melges calling tactics and crew of Eric Hood, Scott Norris, Tom
Burnham, Lindsay Bartel, Debbie Capozzi and Genny Tulloch, Jeff
delivered a performance well worth the win. "Key West is a big event
for us, so we are very happy to have won. There are some really great
teams out there in the Melges 32 now. We had some good starts and nice

| Youth Topics with Joni Palmer Announced
Friday night's session will be "How to run a successful sailing
school". Come back (or stay over) Saturday morning for "How Safe is
your program?" and "The Transition between Youth and Adult". Youth
sessions begin on Friday afternoon and end with bar gathering at
nine. Saturday sessions will conclude with a social gathering beginning
at 5:30 with hors d'oeuvres. You are welcome to add to the festivities
by paying for a round of appetizers by contacting Suzi Reese.
Remember
the Olympia Ski Hill which is now leased by ILYA members, Petelinseks
and Groskopfs. The hill is open 10-10 with half day rates until 4:00
pm. Halfday is $20 and fullday is $30. There are snowboard and ski
rentals with lessons available. Sunday is family day - kids under 12
ski for free with each adult ticket. Call the ski hill at 262-567-2577

Luncheon
This
year marks a return of the Bilge Pullers Hall of Fame. Our coveted
Pillbury, Ed Malone and Club and Member of the Year awards will
highlight the presentation. Dean Brenner will give us a short preview
of the Olympics to whet your appetite.
Fee and Hotel
A
$30 fee will be collected at registration. The fee can be prepaid at
the office. Call Jim at the numbers listed below - note change - fax,
email or send the form in Scowslants or linked here. The $30 fee offsets lunch but assists in paying the two nationally-known speakers.

Johnson Creek Outlet Mall and downtown Oconomowoc provide entertainment
for the family. The Milwaukee Art Museum is 30 minutes east and five
minutes from the Betty Brunn Children's Museum.

| Aaron Mann Named Youth Development Committee Chair |

Youth Representation Added To Board
Cedar's Aaron Mann will serve as
the ILYA's first youth representative to the ILYA Board. Mann comes to
the Board after chairing the ILYA Youth Champs in 2007 along with
fellow Cedar sailor, Matt Schmidt. Mann sailed for UW-Wisconsin Madison
and is currently an MC sailor. Aaron has served as an instructor for
SHEETS, Cedar, Pine and the new HS program at Pewaukee. Mann is
currently employed in Madison where he will serve for a second year as
chair of the ILYA Youth Champs. |

Both
Barkow and Ruf sit in 8th place beginning Saturday. Check the website

and on the ILYA website. The Youth Calendar fills quickly. Schools try
to schedule classes around regattas so send your date NOW for inclusion
in the calendar distributed Friday night at the youth session at the
Winter Inland.
Note: The USODA Optimist Midwest Champs will be held at Lake
Geneva July 10-11. More info to follow. This will mean a week at
Geneva: GLSS X, GLSS Opti and Laser, USODA Midwest Champs. |
