Venue
Headquarters: Mendota Yacht Club at Governor Nelson State Park in Waunakee, Wisconsin (608-831-3005)
Highway M, about 2 miles west of State Highway 13 and 4.7 miles east of U.S. Highway 12.
Schedule
Registration/Check-in: Thursday, August 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Headquarters. Sailing Instructions will be available at check-in.
Competitors' Briefing: Friday, August 22, 9:30 a.m. at Headquarters
Race Schedule: Warning signal for the first of six scheduled races is 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22. Back-to-back racing is scheduled. Except when races are sailed back-to-back, the time of the warning signal for subsequent races will be posted. If one race has been completed, no race shall start after noon on Sunday, August 24. In any case, no race shall start after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24.
Eligibility
The Regatta is open to skippers who comply with the requirements
prescribed by the ILYA bylaws and are Family, Regular, Youth, or Life
members of the ILYA. Crew become members of the Association by virtue
of their yacht’s completed registration. For membership information,

Social
After racing on Friday, sailors will play hard by the water on the Edgewater Hotel's pier, with great food and a cash bar, 6-9 p.m. Tunes will be played by Too Drunk to Fish, a band playing songs you know by heart that will get you up and dancing, even after a windy day of back-to-back racing! The Edgewater party tickets are $30, and include venue, food, and entertainment. The party is hosted by the NCASA with all profits going to the NCASA organization for future fleet promotion efforts. Saturday night, all Madison is yours to explore. Reputed to have the nation's highest concentration of pubs per capita, Madison has something for everyone--but regatta organizers will point you to the hot spots.
Fees
The entry fee is $300 per boat. Entries should be submitted on-line or on the official ILYA Regatta Entry form. Entries postmarked or otherwise received after July 25 will incur late fees as specified in ILYA By-law 12.18.3 ($60 if received prior to August 21, $90 for on-site registration). The Regatta Entry form, which includes the Waiver of Liability and other pertinent information, may be found in Scow Slants and on-line.
Entry is free for skippers sailing their first ILYA Adult Class Regatta, and who contact the ILYA office and register prior to or on the early registration deadline.
A 50% youth-aged skipper discount is available to qualifying skippers who register prior to or on the early registration deadline.
Trophies
ILYA perpetual or keeper race trophies will be awarded at the end of each day's racing or in conjunction with each evening's social schedule. Overall standings trophies will be awarded to the top five skippers and crew.Trophy presentations will be held after the racing at Regatta Headquarters.
Risks
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor, or in the case of minors, each competitor’s parent or guardian, agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law
Rules
1. Except as any of the following are altered by the Sailing Instructions, the regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, the Rules and Bylaws of the ILYA, and the scantling rules of the NCASA.
2. Advertising will be restricted to Category A.3
3. Boating regulations of the State of Wisconsin will apply.
Courses
The racing area will be the navigable waters of Lake Mendota on courses described in the Sailing Instructions.
Housing
Make your hotel reservations now; Madison fills
up quickly in the summer. Locals recommend The Edgewater Hotel
(800-922-5512), The Inn on the Park Capitol Square (608-285-8000),
Madison Concourse Hotel (608-257-6000), and the Hilton Madison Monona
Terrace (608-255-5100), all right downtown. Lower cost rooms are also
available in Middleton, closer to the launch site. Regatta organizers
will be glad to organize home stays for crews that want more Wisconsin
hospitality.
