Five (5) races are scheduled for this event. Two (2) races will be sailed back-to back each day. The plan is for morning races, HOWEVER the warning signal for each day’s first race WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE PRO and posted on the official notice board. If one (1) race has been completed, no race shall start after 1200 hours on Sunday. All races will be sailed at the discretion of PRO Tom Hodgson.
Eligibility
This Open Class regatta is open to all A Scows. The skipper must be a Family, Regular, Youth, or Life member of the ILYA at the time of registration. Crew members become members of the Association by virtue of the yacht’s registration. ILYA Member Club requirements apply. See ILYA By-laws 12.22 and 12.23. Thursday, 6:30 pm: Welcome Reception at WBYC with complimentary appetizers. Friday, 6:00 pm: Complementary BBQ dinner
hosted by the WBYC A Fleet at the lakeside home of Beverley & Fletcher Driscoll. Saturday, 6:30 pm: Poolside cocktails followed by the fabulous White Bear Yacht Club buffet dinner.
There are many good restaurants and beverage spots in the cities of White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi, Maplewood and Vadnais Heights as well as plenty of shopping, peaceful parks and refreshing lakeside fun. The back-to-back racing schedule should offer plenty of time each day to enjoy the lake and the people and towns around it.
Fees
The Registration fee for this regatta is $500 payable to ILYA by July 5 to avoid the late fee. Late registration fee is $40.
The entry is free for skippers sailing their
first ILYA Adult Class Regatta, and who contact the ILYA office and
register prior to or on the early registration deadline.
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 overall finishers. The White Bear-Minnetonka Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the yacht from either WBYC or MYC with the better overall finish. All trophies will be presented immediately following the last race.
Risks
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor, or in the case of minors, each competitor’s parent or guardian, agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law
Rules
1. Except as any of the following are altered by the Sailing
Instructions, the regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing,
the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, the Rules
and Bylaws of the ILYA, and the following ILYA Class A Open scantlings:
2. Advertising will be restricted to Category A.
3. Boating regulations of the State of Wisconsin will apply. The Sailing Instructions will be available at Check-in.
4. All race-day communications will be by VHF radio, hailer and, when required, flag signals.
Courses
The courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions available at Check-in. The sailing area may include all bays on White Bear Lake, depending upon the weather and the discretion of the PRO. Course details will be described at the Skippers’ Meeting and posted on the official notice board. Depending upon weather conditions, the fun and challenging “Six-Knot Course” may be sailed!
Housing
The Regatta Committee expects to be able to offer lodging in private homes on a first come-first served basis to all yacht crews from outside the White Bear Lake area. Earliest notice of your housing needs will be greatly appreciated. Contact Jane Sullivan (651) 426-8908 to make housing arrangements. Be sure to let Jane know if you wish to moor a tender boat overnight at your lodging site.

Miscellaneous
• Merchandise will be available by PRE-ORDER ONLY. The order website will be up and running in May.
• Special boats will be welcoming spectators out onto the lake for each race.
• Yacht trailer parking will be available at a nearby school parking lot. There is no trailer parking available at WBYC. Tying powerboats to the WBYC dock for overnight mooring is not allowed. Please make other overnight arrangements for your tender boat.
• Competitors must provide all their own mooring gear. The mooring depth is 10-15 feet; exposure is to the west-northwest, so buoy equipment should be stout.

1) Registering on the ILYA website (www.ilya.org). To register for the regatta click HERE.
2) Completing an official ILYA Regatta Entry Application and sending
it, together with the required fee, to the ILYA at PO Box 311, Fontana,
WI 53125.
3) Faxing to ILYA at 262-203-7722.
All entries must be postmarked or otherwise received by July 5 to
avoid late penalties per ILYA By-law 12.18.3.d. Fax and Internet
