Melges Performance Sailboats Supports ILYA Championships with an Innovative Promotion
Melges
Performance Sailboats has been a long-time friend of the ILYA,
supporting many events with sponsorship, on-site training, tuning, and
repairs. Melges plans to expand its relationship in 2008 and promote
attendance in ILYA events as well. Witness the forthcoming promotional
draft from the Scow builder:
"Your
new Melges Scow means top-notch quality and blazing speed, and what
better way to experience the new performance than by attending the
championship regatta in the longest standing Scow event in the
world--the Inland Lake Yachting Association Championship. Your purchase
of a 2008 Melges Scow entitles you to a free entry in the ILYA
Champonship Regatta for your class. What better way to test your
equipment and support the ILYA. Melges is on board to provide you the
free entry. Hop on board and enjoy a great new boat at a terrific

| MC Midwest Champs in Warm Florida - March 13-15 - Lake Eustis |
| |
Imagine preparing for a major event race in sunny Florida in the middle of March! That is exactly what the "Melges Guys" have in store for those wanting to sail to the lead in this year's "NASCAR" Scow sailing event of the year, The 36th Annual Midwinter Regatta! The event begins with the successful Zenda U. and then moves to very competitive racing.
This year the Midwinter Regatta is slated to make NASCAR look like a pony trot! Top Scow sailors from all over the US will be contending for the title. We
have great weather and a great lake to sail. Be there for the post-race
press conference where you will learn how the leaders take control. Be there for the pirate party, complete with food, games and prizes! Be there to enjoy the banquet dinner at The Lakeside Inn on beautiful Lake Dora-- submitted by June Howells |
| USODA Discount in Effect This Year |
| Add this to your club dues - from Chuck Mascahal, USODA Executive Director
USODA can use your help in signing up all of your Club's
Opti sailors, but if not all, then at the very minimum all NEW opti
sailors. This is the time when Optinews, our Owner's manual and Parent
manual mean the most. Getting to sailors and parents during their first
2 years will help us get and retain members and also give us the best
chance to train them properly and, hopefully, create those sailors for
life.
Many Clubs are signing up all Opti
skippers and many sign up first year sailors. We have a discount Club
Membership that offers the substantial savings you can provide to your
Club's parents (so long as the club is a sustaining member).
When you sign up a group you will also get
an equal number of Owner and Parent manuals. Sign up each member at $33
each and send one check to USODA, PO Box 1301. Beach Haven, NJ 08008.
