DAY TWO - SCHECK, BARKOW AND KRECH STILL LEAD
|
|
|
C Fleet
Tim Krech has locked up his second C championship title with a great day of 4-3-5. The fifth will serve as his throwout tonight. If he fails to sail tomorrow, he will end the six race regatta with no race wins and a total of 19 points. A great regatta for the Minnetonka married pair. Second place Joe Kutschenreuter with Randy Schmidt and today Katie Porter will have to sail and perform well to maintain his place with Cedar's Paul Reilly and Aaron Mann nine points behind.
The Sailgroove highlights in the C fleet for today are "Deathroll Davenport" losing the crew, second place and top junior Kutschenreuter interviewed with his crew. Yesterday's interviews were with Peter Keck and Aaron Mann. Tim and Bre Schmidt were caught on shore and given the responsibility of describing Inland Sailing. All these and more on Sailgroove.org . Look for the list of events covered and we are there: ILYA Multiclass Championships.

Lake Beulah looks strong on the water and in the party mode. Beulah won the Mount Gay Rum for lake with the most boats represented. Twelve C scows made the trip to support the ILYA.

I-20 fleet
What a day for Oshkosh's Aaron Lynn! He won all three on the I=20 side.
The first race, he was across the finish line, interviewed by Sailgroove before the second boat crossed the line. It's still a tight race as Lynn dug himself a hole on day one with a 7-6. The last race will tell it all.
Top ten
E Fleet
The top three are duking it out but remain the same. After race one of the day, Burton held a one-point lead on Barkow; two point lead after race 2 but Barkow was the first boat into the inlet with race win for #3 and Burton slipped ever so slightly and Barkow is back on top for the second day. This will be the race of the day. Don't ever discount Brian Porter (or John or Vincent or "little Bri" or now Clifford.) Sailgroove watched race #2 on the course today with the sensational races of H-7 Lon Schoor and I-71 Ken Wruk. It's of note that Sam Rogers M42 won the day.

Just as an aside - how many All-Americans are here? I spotted Ed Eckert, Peter Strothman, Kevin Jewett, Sally Barkow, Vincent Porter and Anne Haeger. There is rumor Strothman brought along Clay Bischoff. After three days with Chris Love of Sailgroove, I can say this is one of the most exciting ideas the promotion committee has engaged. I saw him at Collegiate Nationals and knew he was the spark that could make a regatta come alive. Watch the lengthy Davenport interview and tell me this is not Inland storytelling at its best. Your comments from home on the blog section encourage us to go back out today and grab more footage. Case in point - the editor has to leave the race course with great sorrow to welcome the next batch of you. We arranged for a fellow Beulah sailor to come up and drive Chris for the last races of the 09 Champs in the C's, I-20s and E's. We just can't take a day off. It's too darn good. Again, thanks to LBSS for the loan of the boat for the week.
While Sailgroove has the potential to do live reporting, the connectivity here is a bit challenging but it does not diminish Chris's hard work on shore to make this a phenomenal media approach. For an example of live broadcasting from Sailgroove, go watch the past events - Collegiate nationals in San Fran in June. Or catch the walkway antics at College Co-ed Quals
It is worth it for all of you to go look at the site and those of you looking for website development, might as well begin at the top with videofeeds, blogs and the sort. For instance, I have been looking for a way for years to share the photos with you. Sitting on boat 1 at the finish is prime real estate in the photography realm. Yesterday afternoon, I spent an hour editing and then loaded the photos to Sailgroove. 500 photos from one gal ain't bad and the beauty is -- you can take your photos at the regatta and upload them to Sailgroove. If it's digital, it's there!

| IT'S THE BIG INLAND |
|
| To protect the innocent. . .
In one house at Green Lake:
- we have 17 sailors
- from 6 lakes - Beulah, Okauchee, LaBelle, Clear Lake, In, Maxinkuckee and some place out east
- three generations - if you count that Jeannie Schmidt Andreski (no protection of the innocent now) was a candy striper at Candace Porter's first job (if that can count as a generation apart)
- five boats - none in the top ten (as if trophies were what this is about)
- a revolving front door with revelers arriving at all hours of the night and morning
- JUST SIMPLY F-U-N!
Friends everywhere on shore, on water, in every restaurant. It's the big Inland at Green Lake.
