67 X boats
Kate Klement and Teresa Westin of Beulah top the leader board after one day of racing. (And, yes, she is from the sausage maker heritage for you WI folks.) Kate holds a slim three-point lead over Nick Clemence of Pewaukee.
Here is an interesting dynamic. The 7th through 10th places are held by two sets of siblings and the four boats are all first cousins. Now there is a bit of competition.
PRO Chip Mann and team reportedly had the toughest of conditions for our favorite Cedar. Winds going across the lake widthwise and 67 boats. The small lake sailors held the experience factor with light, shifty conditions and a predicted 1-5mph today.

Port/starboard
There IS room at the mark.

Hopefully, windward boat keep clear.
Absolutely, wear lifejackets.
Don't jump off your boat and go swimming during the race - it's slow but also not between races unless the RC gives permission.
You MAY sail with your parent.
Parents, no coaching. ---- We are much better at it. (Your child won't cry if we coach them.)
The NOR and Entry form can be found at http://www.ilya.org/content/view/157/104/ Here's what's in store: Goodie hats, participant medals and a souvenir for all. Great lunch for sailors; just $5 for parents, sibs and other guests. Awards for Top Ten in each fleet and all race winners. Personalized t-shirts available for purchase. Terrific teaching and course-setting by Leslie Barkow (this is a change and a step up) and Suzie Reese. Fun and games on shore; swimming if weather appropriate (water shoes recommended). Spectator boats will be provided for the Senior Fleet - Junior Fleet can be watched from regatta headquarters piers. Post-race treats. Instructors: Please call ahead for directions to launching site for your boats. Come have fun on LaBelle!

| Minnetonka Hosts Big Events
Thirteen Melges 17 boats are registered for the big event, July 24-26. In case you haven't traveled to Minnetonka lately, here is the draw. Connie Blanchard is an amazing chef as she heads up the galley kitchen on the island. The enthusiasm for sponsorship is always phenomenal at Tonka so you are in for a great supported event. Folks at Tonka know how to host sailors. It's always a great time!

Send donations (many of your yacht clubs have donation letters and posters) to Christine Porter, UW Nationals Chair, N9322 Beulah Park Road, East Troy, WI 53120 with checks made out to MUBA (Memorial Union Building Account) or contact your local UW sailor. Any goods or services would be appreciated also to fill the sailors' participant bags with the best of the Midwest. If you make something, donate it! The event will feature three segments of sailors so quantities of 100 or 400 are needed. Your name will hang high at the picturesque Hoofers site on marvelous Lake Mendota near the Memorial Union and along the Lakeshore Path. What a way to display your name.
