YOUTH DEVELOPMENT MEETING REPORT |
Aaron Mann, Youth Development Committee Chair, met with sailors at an open meeting on youth issues. Education regarding Kinetics, Rule 42, resulted in the group scheduling a clinic in the spring. All sailing school instructors (and race committee) will be invited. An active sailing family has offered to provide financial support to the new event. More to come.
The '09 scheduling of the Opti Champs will be placed on the table for Friday night's fleet meetings at the Winter Inland. It is currently placed immediately following the trip to Gull Lake. There is an opportunity to move it later one week in the Blue Chip week. Minnesota sailors, plan to speak up with your desire.
Continuing youth initiatives will be discussed at adult and youth meetings. The 50% discount has improved our numbers. Other ideas are welcome. Local housing at Okoboji was a draw this past year.
