Risks
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor, or in the case of minors, each competitor’s parent or guardian, agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Rules
The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, and the Rules and Bylaws of the ILYA, except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.
Pursuant to ILYA Bylaw 12.22, measurement and weighing will not be conducted, but each entry is bound by the ILYA Class C scantlings.
All communication will be by VHF radio, hailer when required, and flag signals.
In accordance with ISAF Regulation 20, this regatta is classified as an “invitational” Category A event.
One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta. If six or more races are completed, each boat shall discard her worst score, except when prohibited under RRS 88.3(b).
Courses
The courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions. The racing area will be on the navigable waters of Lake Beulah.
Launching: There is a crane available at the LBYC facility for launching sailboats only. The crane may only be operated by LBYC members. Each yacht should have a lifting bridle for crane use.
Mooring: Bring your own anchor, buoy and line (20 feet) in case it is needed. Boats will be on lifts or tied at homes, or moored in a nearby bay. Although dry sailing is allowed for all yachts at this regatta, it is strongly discouraged to allow ample parking for cars and trailers. All moorings must be removed on Sunday, July 26.
Spectator Fleet: Power boats can be launched at the public ramp. Beulah has a strict policy limiting entry each day. Plan to launch boat on Thursday and moorings around the lake will be arranged. Directions will be given at the club.
